Overview

As a Senior Business Strategy & Communications Manager, you will be at the forefront of leading and landing Communications programming across the Microsoft Americas business (operating units/segments). You will be a trusted advisor and activator responsible for leading Americas Communications strategy, centralized go-to-market platform and recurring publications, direct editorial deliverables, and cutting-edge content that lands on time and on point, while creating actions that deliver measurable impact across the business. Your efforts will be pivotal in helping to propel our Americas business forward by equipping sellers and our sales enablement teams with timely, right-sized content, while increasing awareness, alignment, answers, and ultimately, more wins.

Key Responsibilities

Americas Go-To-Market Platform and Core Publications – within the Integrated Communications team, you will provide direct Communications, Strategy, Content/Editorial excellence, and high-visibility landings in support of our centralized go-to-market platform and recurring cadence of seller-facing communications (series). This role will champion our "Integrated Communications Extended Service Model" with a deep focus on high-profile communications pieces, content/editorial writing edge, landing channel optimization, best practice extensions, as well as managing the single Integrated Communications team performance/reporting dashboard.

Communication Strategy Setting and Planning – Develops timely, crisp, and actionable communications strategy and planning. Defines and executes tactics in support of overall strategy, ensuring consistency of voice across messages and channels. Translates value proposition into effective communications strategies and storytelling that resonate with target audience(s). Understands, segments, and targets audience needs and adapts communications strategies accordingly. Scales messages appropriately for a given effort, including expertise in the levers to use to achieve scale and planning for scale from the outset. Execution of Communication Strategy – Creates and aligns communications plans across key Microsoft Americas and Americas Sales Enablement & Operations functions and teams. Ensures content is consistent across the channels with which Microsoft is connected to a given audience. Ensures appropriateness of formats for one-to-one (1:1) and one-to-many (1:many) engagements. Leads the development of frameworks and commensurate collateral. Solicits feedback and iterates as appropriate. Modify narratives in real time based on reaction/response. Measures, test, and records effectiveness of messaging. Understands and advises others on available channels, evolving Communications technologies and trends, which channels to leverage, and what to advocate for in terms of messaging.

Storytelling and Messaging – Develop and drive stories in fresh ways that generate positive perceptions towards Microsoft, Microsoft Americas, and the Americas Sales Enablement & Operations team messaging and brand. Leverages expertise to determine what format is most appropriate and meaningful for a story and target audience(s). Ensures team attends to cadence of storytelling (e.g., duration, evolution), including content development and curation to land a story. Guides team to create narratives based on messaging frameworks that drive content development and deployment.

Key member of the Integrated Communications Team – active leader within the Integrated Communications team, helping drive impact, business priorities, clarity and effectiveness.

Required Qualifications:

Bachelor's Degree in Business, Marketing, Communications, Finance, or related field AND 4+ years communications, marketing operations, field operations, program management, project management, or related experience OR equivalent experiencePreferred Qualifications:Bachelor's Degree in Business, Marketing, Communications, Finance, or related field AND 8+ years communications, marketing operations, field operations, program management, project management, or related experience OR equivalent experience.APPLIES TO EXECUTIVE COMMUNICATIONS SPECIALIZATION - 3+ years specialized functional (e.g., retail, technology) experience.APPLIES TO EXECUTIVE COMMUNICATIONS SPECIALIZATION - 4+ years experience supporting senior executives in an executive communications role.APPLIES TO EXECUTIVE COMMUNICATIONS SPECIALIZATION - 3+ years experience working with social media platforms.Approximately 8-10 years of Communications experience, and/or in areas of Corporate Communications, Journalism, Marketing, Brand, and/or Agency Strong communications, creative, editorial, project management, and analytics/data measurement skillsExpertise and experience in leading overall communication strategy and end-to-end programmingKnowledge of Microsoft products and the technology industry is strongly preferredCurrent knowledge of leading best practices in Communications, platforms, content, and tooling

Communications IC4 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $106,400 - $203,600 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $137,600 - $222,600 per year.
