OverviewJoin the Microsoft 365 for Individuals Business Planning team and help define the monetization strategy for Microsoft 365 (M365) – the world’s largest consumer productivity suite – at the heart of Microsoft’s mission to empower every person to achieve more. We are seeking to add a Senior Business Planner to our team!
As the Senior Business Planner, you will own the pricing and packaging strategy for M365 for Individuals (B2C), accounting for billions of dollars in annual revenue and tens of millions of paid subscribers globally. As Microsoft introduces transformative AI capabilities, this role sits at the center of shaping how innovative AI features reach customers and how it drives sustainable growth.

About the team
Microsoft’s Monetization and Business Planning (M+BP) organization is a centralized team responsible for developing the monetization strategies (including of pricing, packaging, licensing, and channel) across a broad portfolio of products under the Microsoft CMO, uniquely positioned to execute and influence strategic initiatives with high executive visibility and direct business impact.
Within the M+BP organization, the M365 for Individuals Business Planning team owns monetization strategy across (but not limited to):
M365 subscriptions for individual customers (i.e., Personal, Family, Premium)New consumer AI features across Microsoft AI (MAI) and M365 CopilotOffice perpetual products (i.e., Office Home, Office Home & Business)Standalone apps such as Teams and Clipchamp
Typical questions we solve include:
What is the right business model for a new AI feature given competitive dynamics, GPU (Graphic Processing Unit) availability, and COGS constraintsHow should features be tiered across subscriptions to maximize value and growth?What are the most effective ways to grow average revenue per user (ARPU) while delivering clear customer value?
As the Senior Business Planner, you will have the opportunity to influence the product feature tiering roadmap, drive executive decisions, and translate strategy into real product launches and global price changes through deep cross‑functional partnership across Product Marketing, Finance, Engineering, and Operations.

As the Senior Business Planner, you should bring a track record of driving high‑impact ideas from concept to execution, pairing strategic frameworks with rigorous analysis to navigate complex business decisions. You are detail‑oriented, intellectually curious, and energized by ambiguity. You have a growth mindset, a passion for problem‑solving, and the ability to translate complex insights into clear, compelling recommendations to drive business decisions with senior executives.
Most importantly, you are excited about shaping how AI is monetized for hundreds of millions of consumers worldwide and helping define the future of productivity with AI at Microsoft.
Lead pricing and packaging strategy for M365 for Individuals, with a significant focus on new AI features.Identify and evaluate growth opportunities, including new product launches, feature tiering changes, and pricing initiatives.Conduct market and customer research, assess competitive dynamics (especially in consumer AI), and synthesize insights into clear recommendationsBuild and own financial models in partnership with Finance to evaluate customer life-time-value (LTV) impact.Develop executive‑ready materials, and present proposals to senior leaders, including Microsoft CMO and CVP‑level stakeholders, to drive alignment and approvals.Champion monetization strategy cross‑functionally, partnering deeply with Product Marketing, Engineering, Finance, and Operations to influence execution from concept through launch.

Qualifications
Required/minimum qualifications
5+ years product management, strategy consulting, finance, business/corporate development, or related experience OR equivalent experience.
Additional or preferred qualifications
8+ years product management, strategy consulting, finance, business/corporate development, or related experience AND Bachelor's Degree in Engineering/Computer Science, Economics, Business, or related fieldOR 6+ years product management, strategy consulting, finance, business/corporate development, or related experience AND Master's Degree in Business Administration (MBA), or related fieldOR equivalent experience.Experience with B2C pricing, packaging, or feature tiering in technology or a similar industry.Advanced understanding of AI markets, trends, and competitive landscape, particularly in consumer segments.Self-starter with proven problem‑solving skills with a hypothesis‑driven, structured approach.Established analytical skills, including financial modeling and business case development.Effective cross-functional project management skills and presentation skills, with the ability to influence senior executives.
Business Planning IC4 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $106,400 - $203,600 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $137,600 - $222,600 per year.
