As the Senior Business Planner: General Compute, you’ll be working in the Azure, Windows, and Industry Monetization organization in the group that is focused on driving the growth of a multi-billion-dollar Compute business. We are looking for a business planning leader to develop business strategies, compelling monetization approaches, and effective packaging and pricing approaches to capture market share and create profitable growth.
Your role will focus on the end-to-end execution of General Purpose Virtual Machines (VMs), starting with business model and pricing development and proceeding through to execution to ensure our customers have all the information required to make significant technology investments. This work will build on and connect to broader compute strategic initiatives while managing your own portfolio.
Job Location: This role is located in Redmond, WA, Mountain View, CA, Atlanta, GA, and New York City, NY. This role is flexible in that you may work from home up to 50%.

You will work across the product management unit to develop the key strategic initiatives for growth. You will define and document business strategies and ensure the initiatives are aligned with those strategies and are well understood and prioritized across teams.You will define how we maximize business value for Microsoft aligned to the growth plan. You will develop the approach for how Microsoft monetizes each new VM launch to drive overall portfolio growth.You will deliver the specific packaging, pricing, licensing, and offers that define what customers buy. You will define and deliver plans for specific offers, Stock Keeping Units (SKUs), and other packaging options to implement the monetization approach.You will drive at scale execution and create a coherent customer experience in support of the business. You will leverage existing team processes and identify opportunities for process improvement and efficiency. You will focus on what is delivering real results through proximity to the business. You will develop and share insights on what is working and what is not working to achieve business outcomes to enhance go-forward strategies.You will embody our Culture and Values.
Qualifications
Required/minimum qualifications5+ years business planning, product management, project management, or consulting, or related experience.OR equivalent experience.5 + years experience leading and growing complex business initiatives, from shaping strategic direction to enhancing customer experience. 5 + years experience in advancing emerging business areas by applying strategic thinking, understanding customer value drivers, and leveraging new technologies.Additional or preferred qualifications
Master's Degree in Business Administration (MBA), or related field OR equivalent experience.8+ years business planning, product management, project management, or consulting, or related experience AND Bachelor's Degree in Engineering/Computer Science, Economics, Business, or related field OR 6+ years business planning, product management, project management, or consultingOR equivalent experience.Experience collaborating with a wide range of stakeholders to define and implement strategic initiatives that drive measurable outcomes and foster inclusive, high-impact solutions.Experience with analytical problem-solving skills and ability to synthesize data from multiple sources to drive data-driven decisions. Experience with business judgement leveraging strategic thinking complemented with execution/operational success. Experience with communication and leadership skills to drive projects and build executive buy-in and support for key projects. Business Planning IC4 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $106,400 - $203,600 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $137,600 - $222,600 per year.
