Description
OverviewFrontier & Marketing Transformation is a newly formed team within Commercial Cloud & AI Marketing, chartered to drive the next chapter of how Microsoft markets at the frontier — shaping our narrative, defining FY27 strategy, and modernizing how the marketing organization operates. We are a fast-moving, ambiguity-comfortable team building something new. We are hiring a Senior Business Manager to be the operational backbone of this organization — the person who creates clarity in ambiguous situations, drives our rhythm of business, and extends the leader’s reach across a complex and diverse org. You will partner with other Business Managers and the leadership team to help us operate effectively and efficiently, translating high-level strategy into concrete execution. This is a high-trust, high-visibility role with broad exposure to senior leadership and a direct hand in standing up the operating model of a new team. You’ll drive internal business-management processes, executive support, and communications that improve organizational responsiveness and operational ROI.
Responsibilities
Business Operations & Rhythm of Business (ROB) Drive the architecture, development, and execution of the rhythm of business aligned to the scope and complexity of the organization, and own the business review cadence, partnering with other Business Managers to complete status of projects in development for executive review. Lead and oversee processes to ensure alignment across groups; clearly communicate plans and mutual commitments across stakeholders, and review execution and performance against business priorities and scorecards. Create clarity in ambiguous situations to facilitate and drive prioritization and decision-making for leaders across the organization; translate high-level strategic plans into concrete execution. Drive the leadership-team planning process, ensuring coordination with corporate planning and integration across the broader organization; establish key indicators of success and report against and adjust targets as needed. Ensure adherence to privacy and compliance and drive accountability for the team in executing core business activities. Budget & Resource Management Leverage knowledge of organizational strategy and planned deliverables to design and manage complex budgets; partner with Finance to approve budgets and develop forecasting plans with the leadership team. Track financial progress against budget, identify course-corrections to drive performance, and partner with Procurement and leaders on resource and headcount planning — ensuring spend stays within budget and the leader is aligned on budget and headcount strategy. Executive Leader & Team Communications Lead executive-level communication with a variety of internal audiences, ensuring alignment with business priorities; develop content and messaging tied to the team’s mission and key initiatives (e.g., narrative, FY27 GTM). Proactively source relevant content to communicate to the organization; optimize the leader’s time by organizing communications, and perform triage and ghostwriting on the leader’s behalf. Maximizing & Extending the Leader Support the leader across key business-management areas — goals and priorities, culture and health, communications, budget/finance, and business knowledge — synthesizing insights to influence the leader and leadership team. Leverage relationships to influence and advise on strategic decisions; manage high-level partner and stakeholder relationships at scale, drive the leadership-team agenda, and ensure follow-up. Organizational Health Support a healthy team scorecard and promote culture and inclusion initiatives aligned to the People Strategy, partnering with HR and the business-management community to act on employee signals. Capitalize on team strengths, identify development areas, and create programming, communications and events for the broader team. Drive completion of role-based compliance and security trainings. Special Projects & Initiatives Drive cross-team projects to meet a changing business environment and manage complex needs, acting as a project/program manager for strategic efforts that require hands-on coordination across functions and organizations.
