Description

Microsoft’s Turn 10 Studios, the developer and creator of the Forza video game franchise on Xbox and PC including the award-winning Forza Motorsport titles and the Forza Horizon open world action racer, is looking for an experienced Business Director to lead the Turn 10 Financial Operations team. At Turn 10, we create one of the most highly rated gaming franchises in the world by nurturing a world-class studio environment in which people can create products our customers love. Play a key role helping to shape the future of how we manage our financial operations from contracting through payment as a leading member of the Business Management team. This role will report directly to the Head of Studio business.

We are seeking a Business Director to lead a team in improving studio financial and business operations, including budgeting, forecasting, and contracting of OPEX and COGS. The ideal candidate will manage the Studios' contracting and payment processes, train business partners, and interact with various internal and external stakeholders.

Responsibilities include assisting with budgeting, contracting, payments, resolving contractual disputes, billing against milestones, creating supplier setups, and aiding in the hiring process of contract staff. The candidate should have a passion for enabling a video game studio to operate effectively, ensuring player satisfaction through efficient financial operations.

The Business Management team is responsible for covering a wide range of business tasks in support of the Studio. The team is responsible for cost management, improving business processes, negotiating and managing supplier and partner contracts and payments, managing publishing relationships, modeling new business and opportunities, and setting budgets.

The ideal candidate must communicate effectively with internal and external business partners, work independently, set priorities, and meet strict deadlines. They should possess strong business judgment, risk analysis skills, and problem-solving abilities. Management experience is highly valued.

Drive the budgeting process for Turn 10 and Playground Games in collaboration with the business leaders and other collaborators in our discipline Provide oversight of the studio’s overall contracting process including timelines of deliveries, SLA, and backlog Provide oversight of the Purchase Order process aligned with Microsoft processes and business needs Review all of these and other processes and systems for the Studio, propose/develop improved tools, processes and find efficiencies and drive these through to adoption, training, and execution. Assess and communicate risk of contracts with the Business Management team and relevant stakeholders from a business standpoint including not only risk based on contractual terms, but the risk based on the Supplier’s ability to deliver against contractual milestones Manage the Studio’s contractor hiring process with our external partner based on allowable budget for the role as per the Studios budget, and the allowable amount per role. This person will ensure that the process aligns to Microsoft Procurement policies and will evangelize process throughout the Studio with stakeholders Manage the Microsoft requirements for compliance of contractual terms and requirements including the following: Accessibility, Customers’ PII, Microsoft IP, Supplier Privacy, and Microsoft Sustainability initiatives Look for opportunities for cost savings across the Studios’ footprint, ensure visibility and path towards execution of overall savings. Provide reporting as requested for OpEx, COGS, CAPEX and Royalities spend at Studio and Product levels Execution of responsibilities will require expert knowledge of Microsoft tools including ContractWeb, Mercury, MyOrder, MS Invoice, ProcureWeb, Roypay, and SNOW Embody our Culture & Values

Qualifications



Required Qualifications:

Bachelor's Degree in relevant field (e.g., Liberal Arts, Business Administration, Management, Computer Science) AND 8+ years of experience in financial management, business planning, operations management, strategy, project management, human resources or business-related roles OR equivalent experience.Experience with managing written agreements, providing financial reporting, tracking headcount, and procurement processes. Experience in Excel, including advanced skills with formulas, pivot tables, ect.

Preferred Qualifications:

Experience in financial management within the gaming industry.Passion for games, or appreciation of the game making process Interpersonal and communication skills. Time management skills and commitment to SLAs. Experience in change management processes.Experience partnering with external customers on contract/agreement or finance related inquiries.

Business Management M6 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $129,200 - $273,400 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $162,000 - $299,400 per year.
