Description
Microsoft Cloud Operations + Innovation (CO+I) is the engine that powers Microsoft's cloud services and our team is focused on delivering high quality infrastructure to support cloud operations. As Microsoft’s Cloud business continues to mature, our infrastructure expansion accelerates, and Data Centers are central to this growth. To support this, the acquisition and development of our owned, designed, and constructed Data Center facilities will scale to meet the needs of our customers, while we also continue to lease and acquire Data Center capacity at pace, particularly in our high growth markets, working closely with Data Center operators in each region, and across the Globe.The Business & Data Analyst for Leasing & Land Development (LLD) will help drive data-driven insights on the performance of our operational processes in support of advancing the LLD organization from its current state to its desired state. This role reports into the Business Architecture team, whose remit is at the intersection of people, processes, tools, and transformation.
This role requires an individual who can apply in-depth knowledge of the business, its data landscape, and the lineage of that data to proactively identify opportunities to explore and address business questions across multiple areas. The solutions and data analysis developed by the individual in this role will be delivered to executives through a high-tempo rhythm of business that needs the ability to develop analysis, navigate evolving strategies, communicate crisply, and drive changes on short intervals. In addition, this role will be responsible for identifying necessary transformations (either process or tools) and coordinating across engineering, operations, and process teams to evaluate and recommend potential solutions.
The Business Analyst function will also be responsible for measuring our Objectives and Key Results (OKRs) and expected results of all transformation initiatives to ensure effective value realization. They will also support the development of measurable success criteria as part of any business case development. Clean, analyze, and visualize a variety of process telemetry and metrics to identify opportunities, insights, and anomalies. Conduct advanced analytics on business operations using a variety of analytical tools (Excel, SQL, PowerBI, Python, etc)Compile comprehensive and accurate stakeholder facing reporting on a timely basis Guide business leaders with confidence in your analytics and reporting to ensure smooth execution. Summarize and clearly communicate data analysis assumptions and results. Support day-to-day operations with ad-hoc analysis. Work across a diverse group of stakeholders to ensure we collaboratively improve, adapt, and adopt our processes and support software systems to support rapidly changing business requirements. Build and manages key relationships needed for the Business Architecture team. Drives collaboration and alignment on plans; cross-functional relationshipsBuilds and maintains holistic, multidimensional system architecture of our desired and as-is state, comprised of tools, data sources, and systems.Responsible for the value realization analysis for any transformation initiative. Simply put, define how we measure an initiatives success, measure it, and communicate it. Ensures the measurements are meaningful, and the analyses are repeatable, consistent, and actionable.Works across business segments to lead envisioning efforts for mid- and long-term data needs, providing clarity and organization of the future state that the business architecture support.Embody our Culture and Values
Qualifications
Required Qualifications2+ years of experience as a key contributor in cross-functional and/or cross-team projects along with ability to translate complex data and analysis into actionable business insights.Bachelor's Degree in Statistics, Mathematics, Analytics, Engineering, Computer Science, Marketing, Business, Economics or related field AND 2+ years experience in data analysis and reporting, business intelligence, or business and financial analysisOR Master's Degree in Mathematics, Analytics, Engineering, Computer Science, Marketing, Business, Economics or related field OR equivalent experienceOther Requirements:
Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include, but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings: Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.
Preferred Qualification:
3 years of experience in an operations focused industry with 2+ years of experience in Business Intelligence / Center-of-Excellence rolesHigh proficiency in verbal and written communication, ability to interact with both technical & business subject across multiple organizational levels.Ability to define customer-focused outcomes, author business cases and track value realizationCreative problem-solving & analytical skills to drive keen insights and identification of opportunities combined with a “sense of urgency” to develop solutions.Previous experience in datacenter infrastructure a big plus
Data Analytics IC3 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $83,400 - $167,800 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $108,900 - $183,000 per year.
