Description

Microsoft is looking for a Renewable Energy Asset Manager to join the Renewable Energy Team within the Cloud Operations + Innovation Organization. in this position, you will be responsible for managing a large portfolio of renewable energy contracts in support of Microsoft’s carbon neutral and environmental justice goals. You will join an excellent impact team and gain a wide range of exposure to global energy markets.

Manage key commercial relationships with renewable energy suppliers in a variety of Global markets Onboard new contracts at execution into an asset management platform and develop commercial relationships with suppliers Monitor the progress of contracted assets under construction and ensure compliance with all contractual obligations, as well as support review and interpretation of renewable energy contracts and ensure vendor compliance   Proactively identify opportunities to reduce risk and ensure that contracts deliver renewable energy in line with expectations to meet company goals Track environmental attribute certificate delivery/retirement in accordance with contract provisions and maintain supporting documentation for audit Ensure compliance with relevant local regulatory requirements  Stay informed and communicate market, policy and regulatory changes that could impact contract performance    Track asset P&L and provide input for asset performance reporting to management Collaborate with internal stakeholders to ensure accurate information is shared on a timely basis with legal, tax, accounting, and finance Monitor contract settlements and implement tools for independent verification to ensure accurate invoices and timely payments Provide support for contract negotiations with actionable feedback on vendor performance and portfolio risks and opportunities Support the development of a platform of analytical and management tools to optimize the renewable energy portfolio  Track environmental justice outcomes Maintain subject matter expertise in community-led approaches to the clean energy transition in collaboration with environmental justice experts. Qualifications

Required Qualifications 

 

Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Supply Chain, Data Analytics, Business, Finance or related field AND 2+ years experience (including internships) in Data Science/Analytics, Finance, Project Management, Supply Chain, and/or OperationsOR equivalent experience.

Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings: Microsoft Cloud Background Check:

This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.

Preferred Qualifications

5+ years of energy or renewable energy experience [solar PV, onshore or offshore wind and other technologies]. 5+ years of experience managing power purchase agreements, ideally both physical and financial contracts for differences, for example Virtual Power Purchase Agreements (VPPA) 2+ years of experience building and maintaining internal and external stakeholder relationships 2+ years of experience in the energy sector with exposure to renewable energy and wholesale and/or retail power markets 2+ years of experience with renewable energy asset management and Power Purchase Agreement management

Sourcing and Category Management IC3 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $75,100 - $148,900 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $98,800 - $163,300 per year.
