The Business & Industry Copilots group is a rapidly growing organization that is responsible for the Microsoft Dynamics 365 suite of products, Power Apps, Power Automate, Dataverse, AI Builder, Microsoft Industry Solution and more.
The Copilot Studio Engineering Excellence and AI Acceleration team seeks an applied scientist or software engineer that creates clarity and is passionate about large organizational and technical, open-ended challenges, to drive key contributions around the technical intricacies of AI experimentation, innovation and quality for an entire product group.
We are looking for a Principal Applied Scientist to join our team! The ideal candidate for this role is impact driven and focuses on results, while proficiently applying state-of-the-art technology or new inventions to empower the AI transformation of Copilot Studio.

Responsibilities
Envision, communicate and execute the AI transformation strategy for the Copilot Studio product group.Act as technical leader for a highly talented team of engineers and scientists.Identify and prioritize high impact projects to set Copilot Studio for success using state-of-the-art technology or through novel approaches.Tackle the hardest roadblocks for Copilot Studio engineers and scientists including live site, reliability, component governance, AI coding and others.Foster learning culture across Copilot Studio and empower the team through the AI transformation.Model an unwavering focus on quality and excellence.Communicate to stakeholders within the product and across larger organizational boundaries.
Qualifications
Required Qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree in Statistics, Econometrics, Computer Science, Electrical or Computer Engineering, or related field AND 6+ years related experience (e.g., statistics, predictive analytics, research) OR Master's Degree in Statistics, Econometrics, Computer Science, Electrical or Computer Engineering, or related field AND 4+ years related experience (e.g., statistics, predictive analytics, research)OR Doctorate in Statistics, Econometrics, Computer Science, Electrical or Computer Engineering, or related field AND 3+ years related experience (e.g., statistics, predictive analytics, research)OR equivalent experience.Other Requirements: Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings:
Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter. Preferred qualification:
PhD or Master's Degree in Computer Science, Math, Statistics or related technical field AND 10+ years technical applied science or academic research.Minimum 4+ years of experience in AI, ML, NLP engineering or research.Consistent track record of applying science with focus on impact and strategic business success.Experience collaborating skills with the ability to work in a dynamic/agile environment. Proficiency for improving processes, thriving and empowering groups to grow and learnReal-world experience developing large scale online services with robust performance, resiliency, telemetry, and security.

Applied Sciences IC5 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $139,900 - $274,800 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $188,000 - $304,200 per year.
