Description

Copilot in the Microsoft Advertising Platform is an AI Companion which helps advertisers set up and troubleshoot their campaigns, generate high performing creatives (text, image and video), and answer any questions that they have. We are a fast-moving team of engineers and applied scientists leveraging the latest Generative AI technology to build these tools.

We are uniquely positioned to scale platform solutions that combine deep science and Artificial Intelligence to tackle challenges in various domains such as image to video generation, image and text relevance ranking, and designing metrics for ads quality evaluation.

We are seeking a highly motivated Senior Applied Scientist to join our team in Redmond, WA.

As a Senior Applied Scientist, you will be part of a multidisciplinary team that partners with a selected group of strategic partners to co-innovate and drive breakthroughs in deep science and AI. You will have the opportunity to work on state-of-the-art generative AI technologies, to train and fine-tune generative models to facilitate creation and editing of text, image and video assets for advertisers, utilizing third-party technology where appropriate.

Conduct applied research and software developments to develop innovative AI and machine learning models on image and video generation, in particular, train and finetune deep generative models and large language models including but not limited to generative adversarial network, stable diffusion, GPT4 and diffusion transformers.Conduct applied research and software development to develop innovative AI and machine learning models on text, image and video relevance measurement, quality evaluations and ranking for asset generation pipeline.Lead end-to-end lifecycle of image and text search and recommendation search engine and service, from prototyping and implementation to evaluation, deployment, and monitoring.Collaborate with strategic partners to co-innovate and drive breakthroughs in integration of the state-of the art Gen AI solutions into the current pipeline including both the first party and third party solutions.Explore opportunities for innovation leading to high product impact and publish your work in top-tier conferences and journals.Ensure customer-centric approach: Ensure that AI research and product development are aligned with customer needs and expectations.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Electrical or Computer Engineering, or related field AND 4+ years related experience (e.g., statistics, predictive analytics, research)OR Master's Degree in Computer Science, Electrical or Computer Engineering, or related field AND 3+ years related experience (e.g., statistics, predictive analytics, research)OR Doctorate in Computer Science, Electrical or Computer Engineering, or related field AND 1+ year(s) related experience (e.g., statistics, predictive analytics, research)OR equivalent experience.4+ years working experience with coding in production systems using C++, C#, Java or Python.2+ years experience in either Computer Vision or Machine Learning or Deep Learning.Preferred Qualifications:

4+ years of experience with solving complex software engineering problems.1+ year(s) of experience developing machine learning models for production systems.1+ year(s) of experience in online advertising.1+ year(s) of experience in any of the following area related to Deep Learning such as Stable diffusion, diffusion transformers, variational autoencoder, or generative adversarial network1+ year(s) of experience in any of the following areas:statistical machine learningdeep learning, large language modelsGPU training and inferenceprompt engineeringoptimizationinformation retrieval.Applied Sciences IC4 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $119,800 - $234,700 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $158,400 - $258,000 per year.
