We are seeking an Applied Scientist II who is passionate about machine learning, data analysis, and ML (machine learning) modeling to join our team. Your expertise will drive innovation and ensure the team is aligned with the Microsoft Shopping vision. This position offers a unique blend of scientific research, innovation, and strategic influence, allowing you to make a significant impact on both the team and the overall shopping experience at Microsoft Shopping.

Expertise Development: Gain deep knowledge of our recommendation systems, platforms, and domains, staying updated with the latest industry trends and applied technologies in ML, AI and LLMs to Recommendations. Mentorship and Team Support: Reinforce a positive environment, support mentorship, and assist with onboarding of early in career team members.Documentation and Ethics: Document work in progress, share findings to promote innovation, present to stakeholders, and follow ethics and privacy policies during research processes.

Qualifications

Required/Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's Degree in Statistics, Econometrics, Computer Science, Electrical or Computer Engineering, or related field AND 2+ years related experience (e.g., statistics, predictive analytics, research)OR Master's Degree in Statistics, Econometrics, Computer Science, Electrical or Computer Engineering, or related field AND 1+ year(s) related experience (e.g., statistics, predictive analytics, research)OR Doctorate in Statistics, Econometrics, Computer Science, Electrical or Computer Engineering, or related fieldOR equivalent experience.2+ years of experience with machine learning, data analysis, and modeling.Additional or Preferred Qualifications

Bachelor's Degree in Statistics, Econometrics, Computer Science, Electrical or Computer Engineering, or related field AND 5+ years related experience (e.g., statistics, predictive analytics, research)OR Master's Degree in Statistics, Econometrics, Computer Science, Electrical or Computer Engineering, or related field AND 3+ years related experience (e.g., statistics, predictive analytics, research)OR Doctorate in Statistics, Econometrics, Computer Science, Electrical or Computer Engineering, or related field AND 1+ year(s) related experience (e.g., statistics, predictive analytics, research)OR equivalent experience.1+ year(s) experience creating publications (e.g., patents, peer-reviewed academic papers).Experience in the shopping domain and recommendation systems.Applied Sciences IC3 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $98,300 - $193,200 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $127,200 - $208,800 per year.
