We are looking for an enthusiastic Principal Applied AI Engineering Manager who is passionate about the latest AI advancements, has a high-level dedication to team success, drives high-quality code development, and is willing to take on a challenge of collaborating with a team of world-class applied AI researchers to build new methods, tools, and frameworks for demonstrating how AI-powered solutions can help Microsoft Purview spearhead new era of securing and managing digital estate for our customers - to join our dynamic team.

Responsibilities include:

Deliver team success through empowerment and accountability of a team of applied AI engineersDriven AI-based service delivery in collaboration with applied AI researchers and product teamsDesign, build and drive secure and robust ML- and GenAI-based cloud servicesArchitect and drive implementation of scalable systems for AIOps for production environmentsLead and drive AI experimentation and observation platform development for continuously improvement of AI models and experiencesCollaborate with senior technical staff of Microsoft Purview, Copilot for Security and other Microsoft Security products

Qualifications

Qualifications - Required:

Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, or related technical discipline AND 8+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python OR equivalent experience. 7+ years experience in Python, PyTorch, TensorFlow, or other machine learning frameworks.Experience in working with LLMs (Large Language Models) and OSS GenAI (agent-based) frameworksExperience in shipping at least 3 large scale ML/AI-based services or applications on cloud platforms (Azure, AWS, GCP, etc.)Experience in MLOps/AIOps

Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include, but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings:

Microsoft Cloud Background Check:

- This position will be required to pass the Microsoft background and Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.

Preferred Qualifications

Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 12+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python OR Master's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 10+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or PythonOR equivalent experience. 6+ years people management experienceExperience in government regulations, business compliance, business processes in enterprises, legal discovery, etc.Experience and success in leading a team working with LLMs and OSS GenAI (agent-based) frameworks

Software Engineering M6 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $161,600 - $286,200 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $209,600 - $314,400 per year.
