Description

Demonstrate deep understanding of the energy landscape across the U.S., including key stakeholders, critical issues, and market trends across key jurisdictional levels, ranging from sub-state policies to broader regional and nationwide market structures. Lead high-impact workstreams and market activations with a proven track record that align internal resources and external partners to resolve multi-stakeholder issues and achieve time-sensitive energy objectives across various jurisdictions and ambiguous market structures. Demonstrate executive presence, strong relationship-building skills, excellent verbal and written communication, and exceptional project management. Drive programs and achieve targeted outcomes in energy regulatory and legislative arenas, especially through the development and participation in stakeholder coalitions. Guide cross-functional efforts on clean energy policy and energy regulatory matters, with a focus on electric utilities, rate design and analysis, and related topics.

Google's infrastructure needs go far beyond server computers. As Google's products and services scale the globe, the Strategic Negotiation team works behind the scenes to secure infrastructure for Google's future -- everything from underwater cables to physical data center space. As a Strategic Negotiator, you combine your deep market knowledge of a given sector with tech industry savvy to negotiate cost-effective solutions to support Google's infrastructure growth. You'll work with specific project teams on negotiating agreements, managing vendor and partner relationships and presenting recommendations to our Tech leadership. Your successful negotiations have the potential to save Google millions of dollars in operating costs and impact every part of the business.

As a Strategic Lead in the U.S. energy landscape, you will drive high-impact initiatives and market activations across policy environments. You will build stakeholder coalitions and collaborate with cross-functional teams and navigate multi-jurisdictional dynamics to achieve tangible results in support of Google’s energy goals. Your role requires exceptional policy strategy and project management to translate ambitious objectives into measurable progress toward Google's energy goal.Google Cloud accelerates every organization’s ability to digitally transform its business and industry. The US base salary range for this full-time position is $214,000-$302,000 + bonus + equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Qualifications

Minimum qualifications: Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience. 14 years of experience leading negotiations or business development.

Preferred qualifications: Experience demonstrating success in delivering targeted outcomes within regulatory and legislative arenas, particularly through the mobilization of stakeholder coalitions. Understanding of the U.S. energy landscape as a subject matter expert, leveraging deep insights into market trends and multi-layered jurisdictional issues to influence state, regional, and national stakeholder agendas. Ability to navigate multi-stakeholder issues in ambiguous environments, pioneering clear paths and driving measurable progress where frameworks are not yet defined. Ability to demonstrate executive presence and a sophisticated capability to build relationships necessary for successful cross-functional orchestration. Excellent project management, verbal/written communication skills tailored for various audiences.
