Define and drive the technical outlook, strategy, and architectural evolution for the Guest Platform, ensuring alignment with broader organizational goals. Lead, mentor, and coach a team of software engineers, fostering a culture of technical excellence, innovation, and collaboration. Collaborate closely with product managers, security engineers, UX designers, and other engineering teams to deliver high-quality solutions. The Google Compute Engine Guest Platform team optimizes the customer experience by simplifying agent deployment for critical workloads like SAP and AI/ML. We enhance security with OS Login and drive operational excellence through guest health monitoring and metric collection.
In this role, you will define the technical outlook and architecture for the platform while leading a team of software engineers. You will design core components to solve complex security, scalability, and reliability challenges. Additionally, you will collaborate with cross-functional partners, including product managers and designers, to deliver high quality solutions and instill software development best practices.Google Cloud accelerates every organization’s ability to digitally transform its business and industry. The US base salary range for this full-time position is $207,000-$300,000 + bonus + equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Qualifications
Minimum qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related technical field or equivalent practical experience. 8 years of software development experience with one or more general purpose programming languages (e.g., Java, C/C++, C#, Objective C, Python, JavaScript, or Go). 3 years of experience in a technical leadership role.3 years of experience building and developing large-scale infrastructure or distributed systems.
Preferred qualifications: Master’s degree or PhD in Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical field.
Experience in advanced security (e.g., Authentication Protocols, Identity and Access Management Systems, etc.). Expertise in designing, analyzing, and troubleshooting large-scale distributed systems in management, control, and data planes. Ability to navigate and solve open-ended problems, utilizing innovative approaches to handle ambiguity and technical uncertainty. Ability to build and drive technical roadmap and design with a broader engineering organization. Excellent communication and presentation skills (e.g., written and verbal) and the ability to influence cross-functionally at various levels.
Extended Qualifications
