Description

Set regional demand plans and guide infrastructure investment to optimize the continuity of supply.Work with region business leads, product, demand planning, finance, networking, and software development teams to deliver quality and promote capacity planning processes, with favorable business outcomes. Instrument a blend of analysis, program design, implementation and operations management skills to improve our processes and data in order to define the long term build forecast. Partner with internal stakeholders in order to identify technological and business constraints to avoid scheduling conflicts in the presence of multiple orders engaging for limited resources over the planning horizon. Analyze datasets to identify patterns and relationships resulting in operational solutions to real business problems.

As a Program Manager at Google, you’ll lead complex, multi-disciplinary projects from start to finish — working with stakeholders to plan requirements, manage project schedules, identify risks, and communicate clearly with cross-functional partners across the company. Your projects will often span offices, time zones, and hemispheres. It's your job to coordinate the players and keep them up to date on progress and deadlines.

The Data Center Planning organization will identify the cost-efficient set of data centers to meet the forecast demand signal and for identifying and planning the Product Areas (PAs) who will occupy them. This work relies on a Supply-Demand Matching (SDM) process, coordinated by sophisticated solver engines and extensive team knowledge, defining the direction of a global, hyperscale data center portfolio. Teams across Google rely on DCP to guide timing and priorities of land acquisition, seed funding (including campus plan activities), offsite utility infrastructure, long-lead equipment, construction investments. The team drive alignment on what we should build, where, when, and who may occupy it through the Building Demand Plan (BDP) and Earmarks, an extensive set of optimization processes which provides demand justification and outlook for capital funding of data centers. This in turn provides signals to the downstream partner teams to identify new supply options and expansion of current facilities and assets.

The Long Range planning team will develop and demand plans for all Product Areas including Google Cloud, Machine Learning (ML) and Other internal users.The AI and Infrastructure team is redefining what’s possible. The US base salary range for this full-time position is $126,000-$181,000 + bonus + equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Qualifications

Minimum qualifications: Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience. 2 years of experience in program or project management. Experience in one of the following areas: data center planning, supply planning, demand planning, or capacity planning.

Preferred qualifications: 5 years of experience in data center demand and capacity planning and systems design/automation. 2 years of experience managing cross-functional or cross-team projects. Knowledge of SQL, dashboard, metrics automation development. Ability to manage multiple, engaging priorities. Excellent written and verbal communication skills across technical and non-technical stakeholders. Excellent investigative and quantitative skills with the ability to use data (including SQL) and metrics to back up assumptions, evaluate outcomes.

Extended Qualifications

Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience. 2 years of experience in program or project management. Experience in one of the following areas: data center planning, supply planning, demand planning, or capacity planning.
