Description

Identify and analyze novel policy issues facing technology platforms, make recommendations on how to address them, and manage high-impact policy escalations. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure policy analysis and policy recommendations consider all teams perspectives, while also driving awareness and understanding of our product policies, and resolving high-profile policy issues coming from the public, regulators, users, customers and internal stakeholders. Develop and advance first principles that define our approach to trust risk areas, while also researching and collaborating to set industry standards. Develop in ambiguity and in dynamic environments performing at your best when new information, projects, and decisions. Work with sensitive content or situations and may be exposed to graphic, controversial, or upsetting topics or content.

Trust & Safety team members are tasked with identifying and taking on the biggest problems that challenge the safety and integrity of our products. They use technical know-how, excellent problem-solving skills, user insights, and proactive communication to protect users and our partners from abuse across Google products like Search, Maps, Gmail, and Google Ads. On this team, you're a big-picture thinker and strategic team-player with a passion for doing what’s right. You work globally and cross-functionally with Google engineers and product managers to identify and fight abuse and fraud cases at Google speed - with urgency. And you take pride in knowing that every day you are working hard to promote trust in Google and ensuring the highest levels of user safety.

In this role, you will support various research and labs product areas and the platforms and devices product areas. You will require close collaboration with stakeholders across product, engineering, responsible AI, legal, regulatory, Public Relations (PR), and government affairs to enable the growth of the platforms and devices business and product innovation by promoting trust as well as mitigating safety, regulatory and reputational risks. You will include work on external policies (e.g., content and abuse policy, acceptable use policy, and terms of service) and their implementation, internal policies (e.g., frameworks, guidelines, and taxonomies) as well as advising product on responsible development, launch, product feature, and strategy, including on Responsible AI.

A team of Analysts, Policy Specialists, Engineers, and Program Managers, we work to reduce risk and fight abuse across all of Google’s products, protecting our users, advertisers, and publishers across the globe in over 40 languages.

The US base salary range for this full-time position is $159,000-$236,000 + bonus + equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Qualifications

Minimum qualifications: Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.

7 years of experience in a policy, legal, Trust and Safety, or technology environment.

Preferred qualifications: JD, MBA, or Master’s degree. Experience with the development, implementation, and maintenance of policy. Excellent problem-solving and critical thinking skills with attention to detail in an ever-changing environment.

Extended Qualifications

Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.

7 years of experience in a policy, legal, Trust and Safety, or technology environment.
