Description
Design industrial automation and robotics equipment for Google data centers. Collaborate with mechanical, electrical, control systems, and software engineers to define technical requirements and influence project direction. Set technical direction, lead projects, and plan work for the team, engineers, and vendors owning implementation and maintenance of solutions. Define architecture and author control code for automation equipment in the sensor, actuator, and local orchestrator domain. Build and maintain systems to broadcast telemetry to and receive direction from Google production back-end and other Web Map Service (WMS).Be part of a team that pushes boundaries, developing custom silicon solutions that power the future of Google's direct-to-consumer products. In this role, you will develop an automation and robotics systems for data centers. You will manage detailed requirement definitions and partner with the end user for release and implementation. You will plan validation activities to demonstrate readiness of solutions into mass deployment.
The ML, Systems, & Cloud AI (MSCA) organization at Google designs, implements, and manages the hardware, software, machine learning, and systems infrastructure for all Google services (Search, YouTube, etc.) and Google Cloud. The US base salary range for this full-time position is $126,000-$181,000 + bonus + equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Qualifications
Minimum qualifications: Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.3 years of experience in designing and testing multiple subsystems and systems (e.g., software, robotics algorithms, electrical systems, mechanical systems, control systems). 3 years of experience in authoring control code for Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs), 6 axis robots, conveyor systems, servo drives, pneumatics, safety devices, vision systems, and sensors. 3 years of experience with industrial electrical control system components and system design, and regional industrial and safety standards (e.g., ISO, NFPA, RIA, ANSI, ETC). 3 years of experience with project leadership, partnering requirements with stakeholders, and documenting consensus in detailed system specifications.
Preferred qualifications: Experience in working with PLCs, Servo Drives, Variable Frequency Drives (VFDs) and other industrial components. Experience with Machine vision ( e.g., traditional Computer Vision (CV), fiducial detection, object detection, pattern extraction, barcode reading, Machine Learning (ML) model development and deployment). Experience with programming industrial automation and robotics (e.g., Allen Bradley, Codesys, Cognex, Keyence, Fanuc, ABB, Kuka, OpenCV). Experience in using electronic and mechanical fabrication and test equipment with standards-based practices in safety and electrical. Experience with industrial networking protocols (e.g., EthernetIP, CAN, Profibus, EtherCAT, IO link). Experience in software development (e.g., C++, C#, or Python).
