Description

Develop and execute a comprehensive AI strategy for agent platforms, aligning with overall business objectives. Ensure the scalability, reliability, and security of AI-powered data agent platforms. Identify and evaluate emerging AI technologies and trends to maintain a competitive edge and stay up-to-date on the latest trends in data analytics. Lead the technical direction of several teams covering the whole spectrum of AI powered data analytics from data organization and data exploration to results. Oversee the development and deployment of AI models, including Natural Language Understanding (NLU), Natural Language Generation (NLG), and machine learning algorithms targeted towards data systems. Work with other stakeholders to ensure that GenAI-powered data analytics products are aligned with the company's overall business goals. Collaborate with engineering teams to integrate AI capabilities into existing and new data analytics systems.

As Principal Engineer, you will be responsible for leading the technical direction for teams of AI/ML engineers and scientists in the development and delivery of machine learning and Generative AI (genAI) powered data analytics products. You will work closely with product managers, designers, and other stakeholders to ensure that GenAI is used to its full potential to create innovative features for data products such as BigQuery, Lightning Engine for Apache Spark, Business Intelligence, and Knowledge Catalog. You will guide the teams to build tools and platforms that will empower a variety of user personas to build and experience agentic applications that continuously learn and improve, and help them make better informed decisions out of the data.

In this role, you will oversee development of models, agents, end-to-end agentic experiences, and develop the eval strategy for the agentic applications. You will set and communicate a clear technical direction that supports our business goals, drive standards for engineering excellence that lead to scale and customer satisfaction, and effectively collaborate with other leaders across various functions and execution areas.

The US base salary range for this full-time position is $294,000-$414,000 + bonus + equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Qualifications

Minimum qualifications: 20 years of experience as a software engineer or 18 years with an advanced degree. 10 years of experience in AI/ML creating/refining a model to perform a specific cognitive task (e.g., predicting, classifying, etc.), orchestrating one or more models to use tools (APIs, web browsers, databases) to solve a multi-step goal autonomously. Experience with LLM and generative AI (RAG (Retrieval-Augmented Generation), LLM Fine-Tuning (LoRA, QLoRA), Prompt Engineering, Vector Databases (Pinecone, Milvus, Weaviate)). Experience cloud computing platforms (e.g. GCP). Experience with natural language processing, ML, and deep learning (e.g., PyTorch, TensorFlow, Keras, Hugging Face Transformers, Pandas, etc.).

Preferred qualifications: PhD in Computer Science or equivalent. Experience bringing innovative, industry-leading, category-defining tech products to market. Experience working with executive level internal and external clients/partners, acting as a representative of the company. Experience working in the data and analytics or business intelligence space. Ability to work cross-functionally, partnering with groups (e.g., Product Management, Product Marketing, UX and UI), brokering trade offs with stakeholders and understanding their needs. Proven track record of successfully delivering complex AI projects.
