Description

Lead and conduct groundbreaking research in the application of AI/ML to cybersecurity, including areas like threat detection, automated response, vulnerability analysis, and security data science. Partner with other Google Security leaders to set the long-term technical and research strategy for AI-driven security within the Google Cloud Security organization. Design, prototype, and guide the development of novel systems and algorithms to address complex, large-scale security problems. Act as a key technical advisor to the VP/GM of Google Cloud Security and other senior executives on emerging threats, technological trends, and strategic research investments. Partner with product and engineering teams to ensure the successful translation of research innovations into impactful customer value through Google Cloud Security products and services.

As the Distinguished Security Engineer, Cyber and AI, you will be a premier technical authority and a key partner to the leadership of Google Cloud Security. You will be responsible for defining and driving the long-term vision at the intersection of artificial intelligence and cybersecurity.

In this role, you will be at the forefront of innovation, addressing the most complex and evolving security threats with the power of AI. You will be a visionary on how to make AI secure to use and guide the design, implementation, and scaling of a solution. The US base salary range for this full-time position is $349,000-$485,000 + bonus + equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Qualifications

Minimum qualifications: PhD in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience. 15 years of experience in cybersecurity, artificial intelligence, or a related research and development field. Experience in research and innovation including publications in relevant venues (e.g., S&P, CCS, USENIX Security, NeurIPS, ICML), patents, or industry-adopted technologies.

Preferred qualifications: Experience building and deploying large-scale machine learning systems for security applications (e.g., intrusion detection, malware analysis, fraud prevention). Experience as an international expert in the application of AI/ML to cybersecurity challenges. Deep expertise in cloud computing environments and the unique security challenges of enterprise-scale cloud platforms. Knowledge of Google's security products, services, and underlying infrastructure. Exceptional ability to communicate complex technical concepts to both deeply technical and executive audiences. Ability to lead and influence in a large, cross-functional environment to drive research from conception to real-world impact.

Extended Qualifications
