Find your future with us.The Boeing Research and Technology (BR&T), X-66 program is seeking a Systems Engineer (Level 4 or 5) to join our team located in Everett, WA.
Our team is currently hiring for a broad range of experience levels including lead or senior level systems engineers.
The X-66 team works in collaboration with internal partners and NASA to develop the Sustainable Flight Demonstrator (SFD), to flight test the Transonic Truss-Braced Wing (TTBW) Configuration.
NASA and Boeing are partnering to develop the X-66, an experimental aircraft designed to help the United States achieve the goal of net-zero greenhouse gas emissions by 2050. The aircraft will have long, thin wings with a set of aerodynamic trusses for support, known as a Transonic Truss-Braced Wing. The X-66 is the first X-plane specifically focused on helping the United States achieve the goal of net-zero aviation greenhouse gas emissions and presents a unique set of engineering challenges compared to a traditional commercial aircraft design.

The System Engineering Team is responsible for the development and execution of the X-66 Systems Engineering Management Plan and works closely and collaboratively with the program teams (software engineering, safety engineering, design, integration, test and more) to develop requirements, assess architectures and designs, identify safety risks, and develop associated mitigations, and verify final designs meets program requirements and goals.
This position is best suited for those with strong critical thinking skills and the ability to collaborate and perform well in a diverse and geographical distributed environment. Strong written and oral communication is also an important part of this assignment.
Position Responsibilities:
Lead the definition of requirements for aircraft, systems, and systems of systems
Lead Concept of Operations (CONOPS) development
Lead functional architecture and decomposition
Risk, Issue, and Opportunity (RIO) tracking
Apply an interdisciplinary, collaborative approach to plan, design, develop and verify complex lifecycle balanced system of systems and system solutions.
Evaluate customer/operational needs to define and coordinate system performance requirements, integrate technical parameters, and assure compatibility of all physical, functional and program interfaces.
This position is expected to be 100% onsite. The selected candidate will be required to work onsite at one of the listed location options.

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):
Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited course of study in engineering, engineering technology (includes manufacturing engineering technology), chemistry, physics, mathematics, data science, or computer science
3+ years of experience leading technical teams
Experience leading one or more of the following: requirements validation/verification, functional integration, inter/intra-systems analysis, and Concept of Operations development
Experience working with and partnering with cross-functional teams on projects and initiatives
Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):
9+ years of related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Experience communicating verbally and in writing to a variety of audiences
Experience with model-based engineering (MBE) or model-based systems engineering (MBSE), including model-based process and tool application or development
Experience leading systems design, systems analysis and/or systems integration
Experience working both commercial and military programs
Typical Education/Experience:
Lead (Level 4):
Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 9 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g. PhD+4 years' related work experience, Master+7 years' related work experience). In the USA, ABET accreditation is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.
Senior (Level 5):
Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 14 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g. PhD+9 years' related work experience, Master+12 years' related work experience). In the USA, ABET accreditation is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.

Summary pay range for lead: $128,350 - $173,650
Summary pay range for senior: $157,250 - $212,750
