In this dynamic role, you will operate and optimize vacuum furnaces to perform a variety of operations, including annealing, tempering, and diffusion bonding, ensuring that each part meets stringent quality specifications. Position Responsibilities:
Operate the vacuum furnace to heat treat, draw, temper, anneal, normalize, braze, diffusion bond, and form various metals sensitive to atmospheric contamination at elevated temperatures.
Prepare materials for furnace operation by reviewing work orders, blueprints, and specifications to determine the appropriate processes for production parts or raw materials.
Collaborate with Research Engineers and Manufacturing Development to optimize vacuum furnace capabilities and develop new processes and materials.
Set and adjust controls for the furnace heat cycle, ensuring proper temperature and vacuum levels throughout the process.
Monitor heat treat ovens, checking processes and recording charts to ensure compliance with specifications.
Control the atmosphere of the furnace using inert gases (e.g., helium, argon, nitrogen) to maintain optimal conditions during heat treatment.
Perform routine preventative maintenance on heating elements and equipment to ensure cleanliness and functionality.
Group work by selecting compatible materials for heat treatment according to BAC specifications.
Consult with team leaders, supervisors, and other sources to resolve any issues that arise during the heat treatment process.
Count parts, verify part tags against work orders, and ensure quantities match BAC specifications.
Use proper loading and racking techniques to ensure uniform heating and minimize warpage, securing parts with tools and weights as needed.
Operate and program the control panel to adjust the heat treat oven to the specified temperature and run time, then load parts into the oven.
Enter pertinent information into the SMARTS system, including load details, material type, and processing times.
Perform quenching of heat-treated parts and raw materials according to BAC specifications and unload heat treat racks in a timely manner.
Handle and dispose of hazardous materials in accordance with safety regulations and maintain personal and tool certifications.
Physical Demands and Potential Hazards:
Perform physical tasks that include lifting weights ranging from 10-15 lbs to 15-35 lbs.
Engage in various movements such as reaching, handling, turning, twisting, lifting, lowering, climbing, balancing, bending, kneeling, crouching, and squatting.
Work in environments that may involve contact with metals, solvents, and coolants.
Operate in proximity to moving parts and tools, sharp cutters, and potential slipping hazards.
Adapt to varying noise levels and atmospheric conditions.
Utilize personal safety gear to protect face/eyes, hands/arms, and feet while performing job duties.
This position is expected to be 100% onsite. The selected candidate will be required to work onsite at one of the listed location options.
This position must meet Export Control compliance requirements, therefore a “US Person” as defined by 22 C.F.R. § 120.15 is required. “US Person” includes US Citizen, lawful permanent resident, refugee, or asylee

Basic Qualifications:
1+ years of experience working with detailed work instructions or reading and interpreting blueprints and drawings
1+ years of experience using a computer such as internet navigation, email, Microsoft Office and/or other specialized computer applications.
1+ years of experience working with precision measuring tools.
Must be able to lift, push and pull up to 35 pounds frequently with 8-hour shift.
Preferred Qualifications:
1+ years of hands-on experience with overhead cranes.
Previous stacker or forklift experience
1+ years of experience in heat treat oven/vacuum furnace
Experience working with Materials (metals)
Typical Education & Experience:
High school graduate or GED preferred.

Summary pay range: $31.00 - $54.24 per hour
