The Boeing Global Enterprise Sustainability team is seeking a Senior Sustainability Policy & Strategy Lead to develop and execute sustainability initiatives, policies, and partnerships across the United States. The ideal candidate will possess expertise in aviation sustainability, policy advocacy, and sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) technical experience within the United States. The team is open to both Level 4 and Level 5 Senior Sustainability Policy & Strategy Leads to join their team. This position can be located in Arlington, VA; Hazelwood, MO; Chicago, IL; or Renton, WA.

As the regional leader in sustainability, the candidate will advance Boeing’s sustainability agenda, support regional customer sustainability efforts, and create partnerships to advance our industries long term aspirational sustainability goals. The candidate will be a member of the Global Enterprise Sustainability (GES) Team and will report to the Sr. Manager of Sustainability for the Americas.

Position Responsibilities:

Lead the development and implementation of a unified U.S. sustainability strategy for Boeing, ensuring alignment with corporate sustainability objectives while integrating efforts across the Global Enterprise Sustainability (GES) team, Government Operations, Business Units, and engineering teams to create a cohesive approach to sustainability initiatives.

Support the monitoring and analysis of sustainability policy developments at both the state and federal levels, collaborating with Boeing Government Operations to inform and develop strategies that facilitate the scaling of sustainable technologies, including sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) and carbon dioxide removal (CDR) technologies, to support the aviation industry's long-term sustainability goals.

Represent Boeing on several coalitions and sustainability working teams. This may include leadership roles on working teams creating regional hubs focused on scaling SAF and other aviation technologies needed in industry.

Own the sustainability relationships to critical US commercial airline customers to support their environmental sustainability goals.

Foster relationships with key stakeholders, including government agencies, industry partners, and NGOs, to advance Boeing's sustainability agenda in the region.

Partner with SAF procurement team and Sustainable Aviation Technology (SAT) team on partnerships and R&D efforts to progress sustainable aviation goals.

Develop strategic marketing and messaging efforts to promote sustainability initiatives, ensuring alignment with internal and external stakeholder expectations.

Identify and evaluate emerging sustainability business risks and opportunities within United States, providing actionable insights to inform enterprise strategies.

Conduct comprehensive data analysis to research and benchmark sustainability trends, capturing stakeholder insights and intelligence on aviation sustainability topics.

Coordinate and support cross-functional sustainability objectives, collaborating with Sales, Marketing, Communications, BCA, BGS, Boeing Global (BG), Enterprise Technology (ET&T), Boeing Research & Technology (BR&T), and Global Enterprise Sustainability (GES).

The ideal candidate will have the following skills and qualifications:

Experience in policy advocacy or policy strategy in aviation and / or renewable energy.

A proactive approach to independently advancing initiatives while effectively engaging with a diverse range of stakeholders.

Experience with sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) and the relevant technology pathways associated with SAF production and feedstocks in United States.

A collaborative attitude and excellent communication skills to balance multiple stakeholder requirements, resolve contentious issues, and develop opportunities.

A global perspective, with strong international acumen and experience working with diverse teams and understanding various viewpoints.

Broad knowledge of global environmental and sustainability issues, including the policy and regulatory environment affecting aviation, as well as current and future carbon emissions incentive mechanisms or mandates impacting the commercial aviation industry.

Strong presentation skills, with the ability to create, deliver, and share persuasive presentations representing Boeing to internal and external stakeholders.

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):

Bachelor’s Degree or higher

5+ years of experience in environmental studies, public policy, business development, or sustainability

Experience with the Microsoft Office Suite

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):

10 or more year's related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience

Bachelor’s degree or higher in an environmental technical field, public policy, or related field; advanced degree preferred

Very experienced in sustainability, policy advocacy, partnership development, strategy or sales, preferably within the aviation sector.

Experience advocating, shaping, and crafting policy or legislation that can support the commercial aviation’s commitment to becoming carbon net-zero by 2050

Strong understanding of environmental and sustainability principles and best practices, particularly in the context of United States

Excellent communication and presentation skills

Pay is based upon candidate experience and qualifications, as well as market and business considerations.

Summary Pay Range Level 4: $127,500-$185,150

Summary Pay Range Level 5: $162,350-$234,600
