Boeing is seeking a Radiation Effects Laboratory Electronics Test Engineer (Level 3) to join our team in Seattle, WA.

This position is part of Boeing Research and Technology's Applied Physics Organization. The Boeing Radiation Effects Lab (BREL) is the largest private radiation test laboratory in aerospace, leading the industry in radiation simulation, testing, and qualification of materials and electronics. By having comprehensive access to some of the world’s best irradiators, accelerators, and other test capabilities in a single location, BREL can conduct cutting-edge simulations of both natural and manmade radiation environments at a competitive cost. The advertised position is for an Engineer to work in BREL's Automated Test Equipment (ATE) lab. The ATE group within BREL is focused on testing and characterizing a wide range of electronic components before and after exposure to ionizing and non-ionizing radiation.

Primary Responsibilities:

Conduct electrical tests to support the radiation certification of electronic devices

Program and operate various pieces of automated testing equipment

Create, read and follow test plans

Design and populate printed circuit boards, including small component micro-soldering

Develop, program and operate data acquisition systems and measurement devices

Receive and catalogue parts

Troubleshoot equipment to identify and categorize failures

Perform regular maintenance and calibrations on equipment

Create test reports

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):

Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited course of study in engineering, engineering technology (includes manufacturing engineering technology), chemistry, physics, mathematics, data science, or computer science

Experience working in a laboratory setting

Experience working with sources of nuclear ionizing radiation, and devices exposed to nuclear radiation

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):

Education and/or training in electrical engineering, electronics trades or physics

Ability to work in a team environment and independently to accomplish the goals of the group

Ability to listen and communicate effectively and write clearly and concisely

Familiar with a variety of components such as diodes, transistors, op amps, oscillators, MUX, timing devices, ADCs and DACs, PWM Controllers, voltage converters/regulators

Ability to perform multiple diverse tasks with minimal direct supervision

Experience implementing various digital communication protocols and such as SPI, I2C, RS-232

Ability to operate analog and digital automated test equipment

Computing skills (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, LabView, Matlab)

Comfortable with large datasets and statistical analysis

Familiarity with Linux-based systems, simple computer programming, operation of analog and digital equipment

Summary pay range: $102,000 - $138,000
