Boeing Commercial Airplanes is excited to offer opportunities for a Parts Forming B to join our Fabrication team in Auburn, Washington.

As a Parts Forming Band operator, you will be essential in manufacturing. You will be responsible for setting up and operating various power brakes and punch/hydraulic presses to form sheet metals and parts. Your expertise will enable you to lay out work, compute material stretch out, and determine the sequence of operations necessary for precise fabrication. You will utilize various tools and equipment, perform quality checks, and troubleshoot any issues arising during production. Position Responsibilities

Layout own work, compute material stretch out, and determine the sequence of operations to set up, operate, and adjust all types and sizes of power brakes and punch/hydraulic presses for forming sheet metals and parts.

Perform tool tryouts on contract tools, checking setups to ensure finished forming meets quality requirements and specifications.

Straighten sheet metals and parts and adjust brakes for proper machine strike.

Detect and determine causes of defects (e.g., cracking, splitting) in parts and recommend changes to tools or materials to prevent imperfections.

Follow established shop procedures for managing punch press tools, dies, and fixtures, including receiving, storing, and issuing.

Fabricate parts using deep draw and reverse draw dies as required.

Set up presses and safety guards for lower-graded punch press operators as needed.

Use hand and power tools, checking fixtures, and precision measuring instruments to accomplish assigned work.

Notify the tool crib attendant when tools are worn or unusable for repair or replacement.

Perform hot forming and operate automated finish machines to deburr and descale parts.

Work from drawings and work orders to determine the sequence of press operations and select necessary dies and fixtures.

Perform safety checks on machines, ensuring the area is clear of obstacles and that safety features are properly attached.

Verify temperature accuracy for hot dies using temperature sticks and/or pyrometers and select appropriate heating elements for hot dies.

Use precision measurement tools to ensure parts are within tolerance and perform first part checks, checking for part symmetry and adjusting part stops as needed.

Handle and dispose of hazardous materials according to approved methods, maintain personal and tool certification, and consult with supervisors and team leaders on process or job-related issues.

Physical Demands and Potential Hazards:

Perform physical tasks that include lifting weights ranging from 10-15 lbs to 15-35 lbs.

Engage in various movements such as reaching, handling, turning, twisting, lifting, lowering, climbing, balancing, bending, kneeling, crouching, and squatting.

Work in environments that may involve contact with metals, solvents, and coolants.

Operate in proximity to moving parts and tools, sharp cutters, and potential slipping hazards.

Adapt to varying noise levels and atmospheric conditions.

Utilize personal safety gear to protect face/eyes, hands/arms, and feet while performing job duties.

This position is expected to be 100% onsite. The selected candidate will be required to work onsite at one of the listed location options.

This position must meet Export Control compliance requirements, therefore a “US Person” as defined by 22 C.F.R. § 120.15 is required. “US Person” includes US Citizen, lawful permanent resident, refugee, or asylee

Basic Qualifications

3+ years “hands on” working knowledge of basic sheet metal hand tools and performing basic layout skills per engineering sketches and drawings

2+ years of experience in operating a hydraulic press or sheet metal forming press

1+ years of experience using precision measuring tools and equipment such as micrometers, calipers and dial indicators, etc.

Able to lift 35lbs

Preferred Qualifications:

Die forming press experience

Typical Education & Experience:

High school graduate or GED preferred.

Summary pay range: $26.00 – $51.39 per hour
