The selected candidate will support the adoption, capability development, and product lifecycle for the Alation Data Catalog across Boeing. This role sits on the Enterprise Artificial Intelligence and Data (EAI&D) Data Governance team and partners across Data Engineering, Analytics, Business Intelligence (BI), Security, Business Units (BUs), and Suppliers to deliver a catalog-driven data ecosystem that improves discoverability, trust, access, and stewardship of Boeing data.
The successful candidate will combine product management discipline (roadmaps, user research, value propositions, Service Level Agreements (SLAs), Key Performance Indicators (KPIs), etc.) with hands-on experience in data governance, common data platforms, and business intelligence to accelerate catalog adoption and drive measurable business outcomes.
Position Responsibilities:
Support & drive product vision, strategy, and roadmap for the Alation Data Catalog to support data discovery, data lineage, stewardship workflows, access policies, and metadata management across Boeing
Conduct user research and stakeholder discovery (data stewards, analysts, engineers, data consumers, security teams) to define product requirements and prioritize backlog using outcomes/KPI-driven decision making
Define, measure, and iterate on KPIs (e.g., catalog adoption, active users, metadata coverage, stewardship SLA, search success rate, data asset usage) and deliver regular product metrics and reports
Partner with Data Engineering and Platform teams to integrate Alation with enterprise data sources and metadata harvesters (Teradata, Google BigQuery, AWS Redshift, cloud object stores, data warehouses, etc.), ensuring scalable, secure integrations
Act as a primary business-facing product owner for the catalog: run demos, onboard new user groups, design training/enablement, and evangelize value internally and externally where needed
Design and deliver BI/analytics for product metrics and user-reported outcomes; build dashboards and reports to track adoption, value delivered, and areas for improvement
Support data governance processes (data ownership/stewardship assignments, access controls, policy enforcement workflows) and help operationalize governance playbooks with tooling
Facilitate governance forums, stakeholder working groups, and prioritize enhancements that reduce friction and increase trust in corporate data assets
Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):
3+ years of experience in technical product management or product ownership, specifically in data science, AI, data products, or related technical domains
3+ years of experience in an agile work environment
3+ years of experience with data governance frameworks and compliance standards relevant to data management
3+ years of experience with analytics technology stacks; Azure, GCP, Teradata, etc.
Willing and able to travel domestically 10% of the time
Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):
Certifications or formal training in product management, data governance, or cloud data technologies
Experience working directly with Alation or another enterprise data catalog or metadata management tool
Experience integrating metadata harvesters, catalog connectors, or APIs between catalogs and data platforms
Experience with cloud data architectures (AWS, GCP, Azure) and cloud-native data services
Experience with data security/privacy frameworks and implementing access controls in catalog tooling
Experience designing and implementing adoption programs, training curricula, and community of practice models for governance/stewardship
Experience with metrics instrumentation and building product health dashboards to demonstrate ROI

Summary pay range: $105,400 – $152,950
