Find your future with us.The Boeing Company’s Human Resources (HR) Retirement and Financial Wellbeing organization is currently seeking a Lead Benefits ComplianceSpecialist to join our team to support benefits compliance issues. A law degree and work experience as an Employee Retirement Income Security Act of 1974 (ERISA) attorney is highly preferred to be successful in this role.
This position will provide subject matter expertise (SME) to coworkers regarding benefit issues and concerns and will respond to many complex questions. The role will also support international plan administration. A successful candidate will have strong written and verbal communication, organization and multitasking skills.
The opportunity is available in any of the following locations: Arlington, VA; Chicago, IL or Seattle, WA.
Position Responsibilities:
Act as internal consultant to customers regarding benefit programs
Serve as a subject matter expert in retirement plan compliance issues
Manage external compliance supplier work and coordinate schedules, reviews and leadership presentations for retirement compliance work
Establish an implementation schedule and coordinate with internal organizations (e.g. communications, global payroll, regional and country office, etc.) to implement changes for international benefit programs
Recommend and provide rationale for benefit plan design changes and/or changes to benefit policies and procedures
Draft plan documentation (e.g. summary plan description, plan amendments, summaries of material modifications, etc.) in accordance with legal requirements for review, approval and appropriate distribution
Monitor and analyze legislative and regulatory actions that may impact benefit plans to develop recommendations as appropriate
Review and analyze benefit plan provisions and recommend potential solutions for the restructuring to meet company objectives
Review and monitor data information feed files to ensure accuracy and resolve discrepancies
Review and analyze benefit data; respond to general inquiries, audits, document requests; prepare draft response for approval by management and submission to requesting agency
Review and analyze all relevant information pertaining to a benefit appeal (e.g. plan documents, past precedents prior appeals, etc.) and prepare draft response and present to management
Review and analyze benefit surveys results to identify changes in the market and formulate recommendations for benefits changes
Develop performance standards, negotiate benefit contract terms, manage request for proposal (RFP) process for new vendors/carriers and develops quality improvement plans as necessary
Support union negotiations regarding benefits, present proposed benefit package to union, analyze benefit questions that arise during negotiations, respond to benefits related questions and compare proposal to other contracts (internal and external) to effect a solution
This position is expected to be 100% onsite. The selected candidate will be required to work onsite at one of the listed location options.

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):
5+ years of experience working as a benefits attorney or in a role focused on retirement plan legal and compliance matters
5+ years of experience in the employee benefits legal or compliance field
5+ years of global employee benefits and HR experience
Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):
Possess a Law Degree
3+ years of experience leading and prioritizing request for proposals (RFP)
3+ years of experience with proposal management, strategies development and/or contract negotiations
3+ years of litigation experience in either a law firm or corporate law department
1+ years of experience with international employee benefits
Typical Education & Experience:
Typically 15 or more years’ related work experience or relevant military experience. Advanced degree (e.g. Bachelor, Master, etc.) preferred, but not required.
