Boeing’s Global Real Estate and Facilities (GREF) organization is seeking an Experienced or Senior-level Facilities Equipment Engineer specializing in control systems for moving mechanical equipment. This role will support the design, development, procurement, and modification of overhead crane industrial automation systems at our Auburn & Fredrickson Boeing sites. The primary work location will be Puyallup, WA; including occasional travel to other sites in Puget Sound.

Individuals with a passion for safe & reliable facilities systems and equipment will excel in this role. You will collaborate with other skilled engineering, maintenance, and operations teams to maintain & improve our crane systems and develop long range plans to ensure system sustainability.

Position Responsibilities:

Provide controls engineering guidance in the design, development, procurement, modification, and maintenance of overhead crane industrial automation systems

Partner and collaborate closely with other engineering, maintenance, operations, and project management teams

Develop conceptual designs, rough cost estimates, and preliminary project schedules to meet the needs of customers, engineering partners, facility standards, outside consultants, and regulatory/government agencies

Review, approve, and verify crane industrial automation system designs & installs to ensure compliance with requirements & regulations

Support accuracy of system documentation and drawing libraries through internal and external projects

Create CAD drawings and documentation aligned to facility standards; review contractor control drawing redline submittals after construction is complete; verify redlines are incorporated into as-built drawings

Provide input to strategic, short term, and long-term infrastructure planning, continuously recommending improvements

Work with both internal & external partners to identify and assess alternatives and impacts; use proactive, forward-thinking approaches to daily work

Determine causes of asset failures or reduction of capability using reliability tools & methods (e.g., lifecycle analysis, condition-based maintenance, mean time between failures, fault tree analysis, etc.)

Demonstrate daily commitment to safety and operational excellence

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):

Bachelor’s degree or higher in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics Engineering, Automation Engineering or related engineering field

5+ years of experience in an engineering role

3+ years of experience supporting industrial automation control systems of moving mechanical equipment

Experience reading and understanding engineering drawings, blueprints, schematics, and specifications

Able to perform work at heights up to 50 feet above ground level with appropriate safety gear

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):

5+ years of related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience

5+ years of experience with Rockwell Automation hardware and software

3+ years of experience working with industrial automation systems for cranes. (i.e., reading standard PLC programming languages such as ladder logic, function block diagrams & statement lists)

Experience configuring control networks including Ethernet and Serial Communication

Experience in safety processes related to crane systems

Experience applying Root Cause Corrective Action (RCCA), or similar problem/analysis/resolution processes to engineering development & manufacturing/production efforts

Experience using Autodesk AutoCAD

Summary Pay Range for Experienced level: $102,850 - $139,150

Summary Pay Range for Senior level: $119,850 - $162,150
