Boeing has an exciting opportunity for an Environmental Control Technician to join our team in Tukwila, WA.
Position Responsibilities:
Independently work from specifications, technical orders, permits and government regulations, and written or verbal instructions to accomplish environmental activities to identify, label, collect, transport, temporarily store, prepare-for-shipment for offsite disposal, treat, recycle and repackage hazardous wastes.Maintain a working knowledge of State, Local and Federal regulations regarding hazardous waste management.Collect and ensure proper segregation, labeling and documentation of hazardous waste containers and collection areas.Sort and classify hazardous waste and materials which are not readily identified.Check hazardous waste containers for proper labeling.Determine proper waste disposal and processing method by checking established criteria and evaluating waste designations, recognizing deviations, and correcting to assure compliance.Operate equipment for the purposes of transporting, storing, cleanup and containment of hazardous material and wastes, other industrial wastes and accomplish associated activities such as making routine inspections of hazardous waste collection sites.Provide remedial action and cleanup of hazardous waste/materials spills.Perform limited testing of hazardous wastes in accordance with instructions and laboratory procedures.Use precision measuring instruments.Sample various industrial wastes and comply with applicable instructions and laboratory procedures.Perform written coordination with employees on other shifts as required.Maintain necessary records, logs, check lists, inspection sheets, etc.Inspect, clean, adjust and maintain equipment and instruments as required.Operate and assure assigned equipment is maintained such as fork trucks, pickup trucks, boats and other motorized vehicles used for the sole purposes of transporting, storing, cleanup and containment of hazardous wastes and materials; this is not intended to allow infringement into other job activities currently identified in other job classifications.For assigned vehicles: Refuel vehicles, check vehicles or equipment and report required maintenance.Perform work described in other maintenance classifications when incidental but necessary to the accomplishment of work assignment.Check outgoing and incoming shipments of hazardous wastes and complete manifests as required.Obtain and maintain any certifications and qualifications required for handling of hazardous waste and materials.Perform data entry/retrieval and analysis associated with work assignment.Assists in and gives advice and guidance associated with work assignment.Perform receiving, inspection, record keeping, storage, inventory, dispensing, labeling, kiting, ordering and distribution of hazardous materials.
This position is expected to be 100% onsite. The selected candidate will be required to work onsite at the listed location.
Security Clearance & Export Control Requirements:
This position requires the ability to obtain a U.S. Security Clearance for which the U.S. Government requires U.S. Citizenship. (An Interim and/or final U.S. Secret Clearance Post Start is required.)
Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):
Must be a minimum of at least 18 years of age.Minimum one year of experience handling chemicals and/or hazardous materials.Minimum one year of experience using software applications for internet navigation, email, Microsoft Suite and/or other specialized computer applications.
Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):
Preferred three years of experience handling chemicals and/or hazardous materials.Preferred experience using a computer-based inventory management system.Preferred to have at least one year of experience operating a Forklift.
Relocation:
Relocation assistance is not a negotiable benefit for this position. Candidates must live in the immediate area or relocate at their own expense.
Shift:
This position is for 1st shift.
Additional Information:
This is an hourly position governed by the International Association of Machinist (IAM-751) Collective Bargaining agreement.

Summary pay range:$20/hour - $43.74/hour
