The Boeing Company is seeking a highly experienced and dedicated Environment, Health, and Safety (EHS) Manager to lead and manage enterprise-wide programs for Radiation, Industrial Hygiene, and Toxicology in Renton, WA or Tukwila, WA.

This critical role ensures the protection of our employees, the public, and the environment from potential chemical and radiation hazards while maintaining compliance with all applicable federal, state, and local regulations. The Safety, Industrial Hygiene, and Toxicology Manager will serve as a key subject matter expert (SME) in chemical and radiation safety, occupational health, and toxicology, providing guidance and leadership to ensure robust and effective programs.

Position Responsibilities:

Training Leadership: Leads the development and management of training programs for radiation safety, industrial hygiene, and toxicology, ensuring that all materials are current, engaging, and compliant with regulations

Risk Assessment Oversight: Directs evaluations of potential hazards related to radiation, occupational health, and toxic substances, guiding the team in implementing effective risk mitigation strategies

Waste Management Supervision: Oversees the safe handling and disposal of radioactive waste, ensuring compliance with regulations and maintaining accurate records through effective team collaboration

EHS Evaluation Leadership: Leads assessments of safety programs, guiding the team in identifying areas for improvement and ensuring the effectiveness of radiation safety, industrial hygiene, and toxicology initiatives

Expert Consultation Management: Serves as the primary leader for the team of subject matter experts in radiation safety, industrial hygiene, and toxicology, providing strategic guidance and support to various business units

Control Measures Development: Directs the development and implementation of strategies to minimize exposure to radiation and toxic substances, ensuring the team is equipped to execute these measures effectively

X-ray Program Management: Leads the oversight of the X-ray program, ensuring safe operation and regulatory compliance through effective team management

Radioactive Materials Oversight: Supervises the safe use, storage, and disposal of radioactive materials, ensuring the team maintains proper licensing and inventory control

Toxicology Program Leadership: Guides the development of toxicology programs to assess and manage chemical exposure risks, fostering collaboration with cross-functional teams on material safety

Dosimetry Program Management: Oversees the dosimetry program, guiding the team in monitoring exposure and reporting findings to ensure safety and compliance

Industrial Hygiene / Occupational Health Program Leadership: Directs the planning and monitoring of health and safety programs, setting operational goals and implementing policies with team input

Team Development and Mentorship: Manages, develops, and motivates a team of subject matter experts in radiation safety, industrial hygiene, and toxicology, fostering strong relationships and collaboration across the organization

This position will have a presence both Renton and Tukwila.

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):

Bachelor's degree in Health Physics, Radiation Safety, Industrial Hygiene, Toxicology, or a closely related scientific or engineering discipline

5+ years of experience in radiation safety, industrial hygiene, and/or toxicology, ideally with a significant portion in an industrial or large corporate setting

Demonstrated experience with regulatory compliance for radiation safety, occupational health, and toxicology, such as NRC, OSHA, DOT, and state regulations

Strong understanding of radiation physics, dosimetry, shielding, radioactive materials management, occupational health and safety sciences, and toxicological principles

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):

Master's degree or Ph.D. in Health Physics, Industrial Hygiene, Toxicology, or a related field

Certification by the American Board of Health Physics (ABHP) and relevant certifications in Industrial Hygiene (CIH) and Toxicology (DABT)

Excellent communication, interpersonal, and presentation skills, with the ability to effectively communicate complex technical information to diverse audiences at all leadership levels

Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with strong leadership and problem-solving abilities

Experience in a large, complex manufacturing or aerospace environment

Familiarity with Boeing's EHS management system and processes

Pay is based upon candidate experience and qualifications, as well as market and business considerations.

Summary pay range: $114,750 - $155,250
