The Database Administrator will join the Boeing SAP COE in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and will support SAP HANA and SQL Server infrastructures along with related ERP ecosystems and support systems. Our current environment includes a substantial footprint across HANA, SQL Server, and Oracle, and projections indicate the HANA environment could grow to three times its current size.
This role involves close collaboration with Technical Architects, BASIS teams, and project teams to design and implement robust solutions across multiple SAP landscapes. The administrator will be responsible for installing, maintaining, and patching database software, monitoring SAP landscapes, investigating HANA and SQL Server performance issues, and performing environment system refreshes.
The SAP Administrator will work with business process owners and SAP functional teams to configure databases to meet business requirements, requiring a solid understanding of SAP in-memory database technology. The position also requires familiarity with supporting hardware, Red Hat Linux, and Windows operating systems.
The DBA will have experience with infrastructure and application support practices with the ability to work effectively within cross-functional teams spanning different functions and countries in a complex organizational structure.
Position Responsibilities:
Works on SAP HANA landscape, including the CPU, memory, and disk usage
Performs maintenance and system monitoring, along with conļ¬guration and application of any necessary patches
Performs SAP source system conļ¬guration and replication
Ensures that the SAP HANA database is backed up regularly, and monitors and processes backup log files
Performs the administration and operation of SQL Server systems related landscape components
Provides support to non-SAP related Oracle systems
Supports and leads critical project deliverables, provide coordination of priorities and tasks among a team of SAP COE Technical Professionals and consultants performing operational administration and implementation project support of a complex SAP ecosystem
Implements corporate and organizational technology standards and evaluates the business needs regarding information management, systems, equipment, data, support, and training
Collaborates with Technical IT Project leads and team members on the design and building of the SAP eco-system and infrastructure
Serves as technical support for medium to complex problem resolution. Provide technical expertise for resolving escalated system issues. Participate in crisis meetings as necessary
Ensures adherence to regulatory and compliance requirements within SAP System design and implementation
Automates administrative and operational functions. Provide training and direction to operational teams
Provides input and feedback on system design and implementation decisions regarding the SAP infrastructure and architecture in accordance with company policy
Maintains technical knowledge of SAP system components and architecture
Resolves incidents affecting the operation/availability of global systems, through troubleshooting and implementing known fixes
Provides technical upgrades as well as functional and technical enhancements
Troubleshoots the resolution of application and system errors
Maintains the change processes within the SAP Landscape and the SAP Infrastructure according to accepted policy and procedures
Implements and maintenances of HANA databases in coordination with user level security policy administered by SAP COE security team
Evaluates and utilizes software products to assist in the management of data
Collaborates with BW/BI developers/models for performance optimization and data access requirements in the HANA database environment
Supports the tools including, LAMA, HANA Cockpit, HANA Studio, and Solution Manager
Participates in on-call rotation to ensure 24/7 operations of these critical systems
Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):
8+ years of experience administering SAP HANA, MS SQL Server, and Oracle databases within complex, large-scale production environments
Experience deploying and managing SAP landscapes on Azure, including VM optimization, storage scaling, and cloud-native backup solutions
Experience in SAP HANA installation, patching, system refreshes/copies, and backup/recovery (HANA Cockpit/Studio)
Experience in cross platform Database Migration
Experience in designing, configuring, and testing HA/DR solutions
Experience tuning and bottleneck analysis across HANA, SQL, and Oracle platforms to maximize system throughput
Ability to work under on-call support schedules when required
Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):
SAP Certified Technology Associate (HANA)
Microsoft Certified: Azure Solutions Architect and/or Database Administrator Associate
Experience with SAP security policies
Experience administering databases within highly regulated environments, specifically ensuring compliance with ITAR (International Traffic in Arms Regulations) and EAR standards
Experience aligning technical database management with rigid corporate governance and export-control data requirements
Experience leveraging automation tools (such as Ansible, Terraform, or Python) and SAP Landscape Management (LaMa) to streamline database operations and system copies
