Find your future with us.The Boeing Company - Government Estimating, is seeking a Data & Cost Analyst/Applied Mathematician (Associate) to join the Estimating Data & Analytics team. This challenging role will support development of AI-powered estimating tools, parametric cost estimates, Cost Estimating Relationships (CERs), cost model development, and data collection, organization, and analysis.
Position Responsibilities:
Working with Boeing data systems (IRE, EAS, PMAS, CSPR, etc) to create databases and data tools, understanding how our different data sources connect to link them for various data tool solutions, managing the ETL processLeveraging statistical software such as JMP, R, and others to build out analytical models and perform analysesDeveloping analytical solutions for imperfect datasetsData normalization, working with and understanding datasets from a variety of programs/platforms and systems. Mapping data to common baselines to normalize and analyze cross platform dataLeverage Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Large Language Models (LLMs), specifically, to power data analysis and solutions for estimatingInfluences colleagues and customers to use mathematical tools and processesCodes, tests and maintains data tools and analytical modelsLead and support in the design of cost models, dashboards, metrics and reports utilizing standard technologies and methodologies that support cost analysis objectivesIndependently determines and develops approaches to mathematically sound assessments in support of cost estimates, and contribute to the development of new principles and concepts
Basic Qualifications (Required Skill/Experience):
Bachelor’s Degree or higher in a quantitative field (e.g. statistics, operations research, information systems, bioinformatics, economics, computational biology, computer science, mathematics, physics, chemistry or similar quantitative fields)Experience with at least one of the following data modeling tools: SQL, Python, PySpark, R/RStudio, Databricks, Dataiku, Tableau, Pandas, NumPy1+ years of experience or graduate degree in one of the following areas: databasing and data normalization, large language models (LLM), or running advanced statistical analysis on datasets
Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):
Experience in running statistical analysis of large datasets, drawing conclusions from analyses, and presenting sameExperience in statistical data analysis with statistical softwareExperience with estimating techniques and relationships used in practical applications (e.g. cost models, cost estimating relationships)Experience with statistical software, programming languages and/or databases for the purposes of Cost Estimate Relationship (CER) development and other analysisKnowledge of advanced statistics such as probability theory and distributions, descriptive statistics, matrix algebra, multivariate statistics, polynomial analysis, parametric and non-parametric methodsExperience in one or more of the following: machine learning, language modeling, computer vision, time-series analysis, unsupervised clustering, algorithmic foundations of optimization, multivariate analysis, stochastic models, sampling methods, or data miningExperience with Artificial Intelligence (AI) technologies, particularly Large Language Models (LLMs) which could include prompt engineeringKnowledge of Natural Language Processing (NLP) fundamentalsExperience with Application Programming Interface (API) design and applicationExperience analyzing technical dataExperience performing parametric estimatesExperience in defense industryExperience communicating and presenting leadershipStrong critical thinking skills
