Boeing Commercial Airplanes is seeking Production Equipment and Tool Engineers to support the autoclaves, nitrogen supply systems, and ancillary tools and equipment used to cure the composite wings for the 777-9 and 777-8F programs in Everett, WA.

A successful candidate in this role will have passion, creativity, and an insatiable desire for process improvement and efficiency. They will also have a strong desire to be out in the factory, interacting with mechanics, safety, and equipment services, and directly supporting the production system. In Production Engineering, we need highly responsible professionals committed to upholding the highest standards of safety, quality, and integrity.

Primary Responsibilities:

Audit pressure vessel system designs and ensure pressure vessel design codes and standards are met.Participate in safety inspections and the design/execution of non-destructive tests.Manage projects related to the repair or re-design of pressure vessels and systems.Work with manufacturers to develop repairs, alterations, and new designs to ensure code compliance & operational integrity.Investigates and develops equipment and tooling concepts and specifications to satisfy aerospace product design and build requirements.Performs equipment liaison activities to support operations and quickly address any production disruptions caused by equipmentParticipates in design reviews, collects design requirements, creates and revises drawings and models to support the build plan.Creates specifications and purchase requests for the acquisition of new equipment and tooling from external vendorsChecks designs for compliance with safety, producibility, maintainability, reliability, ergonomic factors and regulatory requirements.Develops and documents equipment and tooling inspection and usage instructions, preventative maintenance plans, and supports user training development.Manages budgets and schedules to deliver equipment and tooling solutions to customers.

This position is a Production Engineering role and requires direct interfacing with the people and equipment on the production floor. A typical day could include:

Spending up to 8 hours on feet standing/walking on the production floorClimbing ladders or stairs to access equipment

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/ Experience):

Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited course of study in engineering, engineering technology (including manufacturing engineering technology), chemistry, physics, mathematics, data science, or computer science1 or more years’ related engineering work experience

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):

Conflict of Interest: Successful candidates for this job must satisfy the Company’s Conflict of Interest (COI) assessment process(Mid-Level) 3 or more years’ related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience(Senior) 5 or more years’ related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience3+ years of hands-on experience as a Pressure Vessel Design Engineer.2 or more years of experience working in a production environment2 or more years of Project Management experienceWorking knowledge and application of pressure vessel codes such as ASME Section VIII and its related ASME/ANSI Codes.Strong knowledge and application of NBIC codes Part 1, 2, 3, & 4Application of piping codes such as ASME B31.1 and/or B31.3.Strong understanding of pressure vessel fabrication processes and maintenance procedures.Strong understanding of material mechanics & behaviors under conditions such as extreme temperatures and vibrations.Strong understanding of non-destructive examination procedures such as magnetic particle examination and ultrasonic testing.Knowledge of welding procedures and testing requirements.Experience and adeptness in the application of thermodynamics and fluid mechanics principles.Hands-on experience with the design of autoclaves for use in composite curing processes.Design of quick actuating closures or breech lock door mechanisms.

Summary pay range for Associate (Level 2): $90,950 – $123,050Summary pay range for Experienced (Level 3): $111,350 – $150,650Summary pay range for Senior (Level 4): $135,150 – $182,850
