The Boeing Safety, Security, and Airworthiness (SS&A) organization is looking for an Associate (Level 2), Mid-Level (Level 3), Senior (Level 4)Airplane Safety Engineer to join the Airplane Safety Engineering Team within Enterprise Safety Mission Assurance in Everett, WA. Selected candidates have the opportunity to support commercial development programs or commercial in production programs.

The Airplane Safety Engineer’s responsibilities will include conducting thorough safety analyses at the airplane level across various engineering disciplines. This role entails leading the intricate integration of airplane systems, human factors, and safety assessments, all while considering the operational context of the aircraft. Attention to detail and a keen engineering mindset are essential as our safety deliverables play a critical role in ensuring airplane compliance.

Primary responsibilities:

Participates in system research and analysis to identify potential or investigate reported in-service fleet hazards, risks, and safety concerns.Supports defining and validating safety, mission success, and airworthiness; provides support incorporating into designs, operations, and procedures.Assists with creating and maintaining aerospace safety and mission assurance tools and processes.Contributes by documenting safety analysis, hazard mitigation, validation and verification activities in compliance with relevant customer and regulatory safety standards.Participates in establishing global safety advocacy strategies, training, tools, and methods.Executing airplane level analyses within the Preliminary Aircraft Safety Assessment and Aircraft Safety Assessment (e.g., Aircraft Functional Hazard Assessment (AFHA), Combined Functional Failure Effects (CoFFE), Common Resource Analysis, Multi-Functional Fault Tree Analysis (MFTA), Functional Design Assurance Level (FDAL) , Common Mode Assessment (CMA), Particular Risk Analysis (PRA), and Zonal Safety Analysis (ZSA)).Providing safety design and analysis expertise to program stakeholders and leadershipDeveloping certification strategies for systems and airplane level safety issues.Representing ASE in airplane level design trade studies, coordination of safety analyses, and functional integration assessments.

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills and Experience):

Level 2: 2+ years of related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.Level 3: 5+ years of related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.Level 4: 9+ years of related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology (including Manufacturing Technology), Computer Science, Data Science, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry or non-US equivalent qualifications directly related to the work statement1+ years of experience in airplane systems design and/or analysis (e.g. flight controls, hydraulics, avionics, fuels, etc.) and/or systems integration

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills and Experience):

1+ years of experience performing system safety analysis and/or studies Experience with the commercial airplanes certification process1+ years of experience do you have working with safety analyses such as Risk Assessments, Functional Hazard Assessments (FHA), Fault-tree Analysis (FTA), etc.1+ years of experience developing/applying aviation related system safety analysis methods, such as System Safety Risk Assessments, Fault-Tree Analysis (FTA), Functional Hazard Assessment (FHA), and Safety Assessment Report (SAR)Pilot license or pilot experienceExperience do you have in mechanical or electrical engineering problem solving

Summary Pay Range:

Associate (Level 2): $94,350 - $127,650Mid-Level (Level 3): $114,750 - $155,250Senior (Level 4): $141,100 - $190,900
