The Boeing Company is seeking Associate and Mid-Level Aerodynamic Stability and Control Engineers to support the Boeing Commercial Airplanes (BCA) team. This position is located in Everett, Washington.

As an Aerodynamic Stability and Control Engineer, you will perform analyses to support both airplanes in development and service. You will gain an airplane-level perspective of the vehicle requirements, aerodynamic performance and human factors. You will be relied upon as a flight dynamics and handling qualities expert, influencing the development of the airplane, verifying capabilities during the flight test program, and/or while supporting our airline customers who operate our airplanes. You will have opportunities to interface directly with other disciplines and the Flight Test pilot community, expanding your network and sphere of influence. You will utilize a variety of computational tools and techniques to reach solutions to complex problems with competing requirements. You develop and use high fidelity steady-state and dynamic simulation models to analyze extreme flight conditions. You’ll be an integral part of ensuring the safety, performance and efficiency of current and future Boeing Commercial Airplane products.

Position Responsibilities:

Develop and utilize advanced 6 Degree of Freedom (DOF) aerodynamic flight modelsCollect and analyze data from various aerodynamics testing methods (e.g. flight test, CFD, wind tunnel)Develop and verify airplane-level flight requirementsDevelop control surface and actuation size requirementsDevelop documentation to capture design decisions, analysis results, and process improvementsDevelop new tools and techniques for improving analytical efficiencyProvide technical guidance during flight testingUnderstand and apply FAR part 25 certification requirements for large transport aircraftApply understanding of flight physics to advise airplane design decisionsAddress in-service accidents and incidences related to flight handling qualitiesCoordinate with a variety of internal and external customersRespond to a variety of technical challenges

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):

Bachelor, Master, or Doctorate of Science degree in Aeronautical-related Engineering field (preferred) or Mechanical Engineering with an airplane interest. (ABET preferred)

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):

Knowledge of aerodynamic principles and analysis toolsComputer Science, or mathematics minor/interest is desiredStrong programming skills using at least one modern programming language (e.g. Python, Matlab, etc)Experience working on a diverse team to solve complex problemsStrong understanding of mathematical and statistical methods applied to engineering problemsAbility to deal with ambiguous technical environmentsAbility to learn quickly and expand personal expertise with or without technical guidance

Pay is based upon candidate experience and qualifications, as well as market and business considerations.

Summary pay range for Associate level (Level 2): $81,600 - $110,400

Summary pay range for Mid-Level (Level 3): $100,300 - $135,700
