The Amazon Alexa Smart Home UX team is seeking an innovative and highly motivated UX Design Manager to join our Alexa Smart Home UX Design team. He or she will influence product strategy, organize our UX standards, mentor our design staff, collaborate with our user research team, and lead product prototyping and UX design work for the department. We prefer a “hands-on” approach that involves creatively guiding the design work while leading and coaching the team. The UX Design Manager will work collaboratively with engineers, product managers, executives, and other designers throughout the product development lifecycle. The position requires a laser-like customer focus, a data-driven approach, and awareness of current practices for mobile and online UX design. The ideal candidate will be comfortable with ambiguity, passionate about design, and able to act well with minimal direction. · Ensure user focus throughout the product design process · Set the UX design direction for our portfolio
· 5+ years of experience as a user experience designer, interaction designer, information architect, or similar role · 1+ years of experience as the lead or most senior individual of a design team · Bachelor's degree in design, human-computer interaction (HCI), or equivalent professional experience· An online portfolio or samples of work demonstrating experience creating great user-centered design solutions is a requirement for application · Ability to drive the design review cycle and close on design requirements independently · Strong knowledge of usability principles and techniques · Familiarity
