As a Strategy Manager with Microsoft's Modern Life and Devices Group, you will help define Microsoft's consumer software, consumer services, and 1P device portfolio for the next decade. Our team helps Microsoft's senior executives make critical decisions. We assess and recommend solutions for the most important topics facing Microsoft's consumer portfolio, including: Product development: Guide investments in new software, hardware and services based on assessment of industry structures, customer behaviors, and economic opportunities Business/Corporate development: Lead evaluation of major deals, including large acquisitions Growth strategies: Develop plans for market/geographic expansions, pricing and business model shifts, and responses to competitor actions On a daily basis, our work requires collaboration with Microsoft's engineering and business leaders for Windows, Office, Bing, Surface devices, Skype, Cortana, and unannounced product incubations. Create business plans for new growth initiatives (e.g., new products, geographic expansions) Analyze markets and industry trends to identify growth opportunities Build effective relationships with colleagues from both engineering and business organizations Assist in the identification and evaluation of strategic investment / M and A opportunities Articulate our long-range strategic plans for executive leaders
1+ year of work experience in corporate strategy, management consulting, corporate development, investment banking, business planning, and/or related experience is required. Strong aptitude for quantitative and qualitative analysis Financial literacy (familiarity with P and Ls, 10-Qs/10-Ks, discounted cashflow models, etc.) Experience working across organizational boundaries to drive impact in a collaborative manner Well-developed executive communication and project management skills A Bachelor's degree is required
