The Data, Insights and Growth (DIG) team – part of the Office Fuel organization powering engineering capability and customer lifecycle – builds transformative capabilities that help Microsoft teams immerse in customer reality. We have an opening for an engineer on the team that delivers Floodgate and other strategic in-application, in-context customer connection and data gathering capabilities, supporting a wide range of scenarios such as feedback, surveys, diagnostics and customer relief, for applications across Office and Microsoft. You may have noticed that teams across E+D use controlled in-app surveys to generate a clean signal on Net Promoter Score (NPS) – a prominent example of the widespread use of Floodgate, our cross-platform, context-aware survey/feedback platform. Every month hundreds of customer interactions and surveys are being powered by Floodgate today, part of the Office Customer Voice (https://aka.ms/OCV) ecosystem, generating targeted qualitative and quantitative customer

Work areas: Design robust, secure client-side components to be reused in Office and in other external products Design and build scalable web solutions for future advancements to Floodgate and diagnostics Partner with engineers and PMs across various Office app teams, other shared teams, and with external teams to coordinate adoption and integrate cleanly with other Office service capabilities Execute and promote the team approach to the code lifecycle (design, code, review, test, debug, etc)
Required qualifications: BS degree (or equivalent) in Computer Science or related engineering discipline 5+ years in client or web front-end development Ability to ramp up quickly in new code bases Preferred qualifications: 5+ years of strong coding experience in C++ Existing skills or ability to ramp up on Java (Android), Objective-C (macOS/iOS), TypeScript/JavaScript, etc. Background in designing and building end-user facing components at scale, familiarity with client/service design patterns Strong problem solving and algorithmic thinking capability as well as creativity to find pragmatic paths
