Amazon Web Services (AWS) is seeking a software engineering manager to build tooling to manage the full life cycle of our embedded server controller. We need to continue building out the engineering team, establish timelines, and manage deliverables. Multiple development teams will act as your customer and coordinating requirements across them will be essential. The EC2 Nucleus team is responsible for the design and maintenance of all of Amazon's core compute platforms. We have a special focus on EC2, the Elastic Compute Cloud that is the basis for much of Amazon Web Services (AWS). We're also responsible for tools associated with the performance characterization, qualification, build and deployment of our platforms. Specifically the software development manager will: · Manage a team that develops software for an embedded server controller · Work across various environments from a small, hands-on lab to public EC2 · Champion continuous improvements to testing coverage, diversity, and alarming
· BA/BS in Computer Science or related discipline, or equivalent work experience · 5-10 Years of successful technical leadership · Demonstrated ability to plan and deliver complex, high quality, software products with minimal guidance · Demonstrated ability to deliver results with cross-organizational dependencies · Experience with test and deployment automation · Ability to lead and grow diverse and highly talented teams· MS or PhD in Computer Science · In-depth knowledge of virtual machine environments · Experience with high-performance storage architectures · Experience with distributed systems
