As part of Amazon’s Health, Safety, Sustainability, Security, and Compliance (HS3C) organization, Amazon’s Zero Waste team is looking for a talented software engineer to build sustainability-focused software systems in our mission to eliminate the burden of waste disposal for customers, Amazon operations, and the Earth. You will work with key product stakeholders across Amazon to quantify opportunities for waste reduction and guide the development of large-scale elimination efforts. You will design systems that remove millions of pounds of excess packaging and intelligently route donations of unsold/unneeded inventory to charitable causes at Amazon scale. As a Software Engineer you will work with your manager and team of highly skilled software, data, and test engineers to invent, design, and build highly stable and performant software. You will work with your internal customers to balance customer requirements with

· Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or related degree · 2+ years professional experience in software development · Computer Science fundamentals in object-oriented design · Computer Science fundamentals in data structures · Computer Science fundamentals in algorithm design, problem solving, and complexity analysis · Proficiency in Java, C#, Scala, or other similar programming languages· Experience building complex software systems that have been successfully delivered to customers · Knowledge of professional software engineering practices and best practices for the full software development
