NET Foundation after
Orleans is the next most popular open source project of the .NET Foundation after CoreCLR/CoreFX/Roslyn. It was created in Microsoft Research and is now developed within Microsoft Gaming. Search for "Orleans" on GitHub. Orleans has already redefined how modern scalable interactive cloud services and distributed systems should be built, and even inspired a Java clone named Orbit. Orleans has been running in production since 2011 powering high scale/throughput cloud services for Halo, Gears of War, Minecraft, Skype, Azure Monitoring, and several other Microsoft products. Since the public preview at //build/ 2014 and going open source in January 2015 Orleans has attracted a significant number of external customers ranging from small startups to large enterprises. At the same time, it attracted a group of talented engineers across the globe that have formed a community around the project. After moving to a product group, the Orleans team continues its close collaboration with Microsoft Research

Our team is focused on continuous improvement, rapid deployment, and fast iteration cycles. The ability to work in an agile environment will be a key to success.
