We are seeking a qualified candidate for a Senior Engineer to own the characterization and validation of storage solutions for the Xbox hardware development team. Storage solutions include HDD, SSD, and other Flash based storage technologies. The successful candidate will be the primary technical focal point for determining quality for existing and leading-edge storage technologies on currently shipping and future Xbox design projects. The focus will be on evaluating and characterizing storage solutions based on a deep understanding of the complete storage
Develop characterization tests, validation tests and qualification plans for each storage device including performance and latency testing Coordinate validation activities as well as provide technical validation leadership Debug and root cause test failures Coordinate and align with other Microsoft hardware product teams Track technology and industry roadmap of each storage device
Minimum BS/MS in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science or equivalent Experience testing HDD, SSD and/or Flash parts Deep understanding of operating system storage software architectures from drivers to file system Knowledge of SATA, PCIe/NVMe, and eMMC protocols Strong software development background interfacing with and debugging hardware components Application to kernel level software and embedded firmware development experience 8+ years of experience designing, implementing, and shipping products of medium to high complexity Strong bench evaluation and in-lab debugging
