We are seeking a qualified candidate for a Senior Engineer to develop storage solutions with the Xbox console hardware development team. Storage solutions include HDD, SSD, and Flash based storage technologies. The successful candidate will be the primary technical focal point for existing and leading-edge storage technologies on currently shipping and future Xbox design projects. The focus will be integrating the right storage solutions into the console based on a variety of constraints such as cost, reliability, capacity and performance requirements

Responsibilities: Storage Developer: Coordinate external design activities with the storage vendor as well as provide technical leadership regarding: • Understand and document requirements for each storage device • Coordinate with other technology teams at Microsoft • Create and maintain specifications to be used internally and shared with external vendors. • Technology and roadmap awareness for each storage device • Identify internal schedule and milestones and recommend solutions that fit each project • Technical lead from the console team to ensure the vendor meets the agreed upon milestones
Qualifications: Minimum BS/MS in Electrical Engineering. A solid understanding of core engineering principles Deep understanding of current HDD, SSD and Flash Technology Knowledge of SATA, PCIe/NVMe, and eMMC protocols Strong software development background interfacing with, testing, and debugging hardware components. Operating system and embedded firmware development experience a plus. 5 or more years of experience designing, implementing, and shipping products of medium to high complexity Knowledge of high-volume consumer electronics design and manufacturing is desired.
