Microsoft Corporation has an immediate opening for an experienced attorney to be the lead attorney to support the commercial business for Microsoft 365 support within the Corporate, External and Legal Affairs (CELA) department. The position is based in Redmond, Washington. The commercial business for Microsoft 365 is one of the most impactful business for the company, comprised of Office 365, Windows, and Enterprise Management Security. The role will include a broad and varied portfolio of legal work including counselling and legal support for the commercial business of the Microsoft 365 Marketing team.
Responsibilities may include: Act as front-line legal and senior counsel who provides general legal support to a variety of business clients across the commercial business of Microsoft 365 Marketing teams; Drive deep engagement with business clients to understand business and marketing strategies; Provide legal and compliance guidance to the business clients in business and marketing initiatives and strategy and work with outside counsel and other members of Microsoft's legal team to resolve legal and compliance matters; Draft and negotiate transactional documents, including agreements relating
Desired qualifications: Excellent academic credentials, a J.D. or equivalent from an ABA accredited law school or equivalent non-U.S. law degree, and an active license to practice law. Experience in counseling complex and broad legal issues and in the software industry is preferred. 10+ years as a practicing attorney, preferably with both law firm and in-house experience. Sound judgment that incorporates strong legal analysis, a pragmatic approach, and consideration of business goals, risk tolerance, and stakeholder priorities.
