At Amazon Web Services (AWS), security is our highest priority. As a Security Engineer, you will build processes and automation for detecting and responding to security incidents for a brand new AWS service. In this role you will help prevent attacks that impact large systems, company trust, and customer data. Your day-to-day responsibilities will include: · analyzing data sets to perform risk assessments; · developing tooling and security controls to mitigate risks; · recommending and driving projects with customers, stakeholders, and peers; · advocating on behalf of security goals and identifying opportunities to reduce security-debt; and · defining and supporting incident response plans. You will focus on projects with cross-functional impact — e.g. implementing kill switches, assessing forensic capabilities, designing countermeasures, security testing etc. You will constructively identify problems and propose solutions for metrics, alarming, or design approaches.
· Bachelors in an engineering discipline or equivalent experience · 2+ years of experience with one or more of the following: access control systems and methodology, applications and systems development security, security architecture and models, identity management and authentication, software development, or operations security · 2+ years of experience in identifying security issues and risks, and developing mitigation plans · Coding proficiency in at least one programming language (e.g. JavaScript, Ruby, Python, Java etc.) · Familiarity with security-focused data analysis· Experience working
