The Windows Defender Advanced Threat Protection team (WDATP) is looking for an experienced Security Engineer to join our Redmond lab. The WDATP team is committed to helping Microsoft customers keep their devices secure against malicious attacks and cybercrime. At Microsoft, you'll have access to vast amounts of threat-related data from billions of endpoints and other sources. By continuously gathering and analyzing data, and by working with organizations inside and outside Microsoft, the WDATP stays agile to combat evolving threats. Our mission is to help protect customers and systems with industry-leading proactive protection, advise customers, and engage in valuable partnerships. As a Security Engineer on our team, you will design, build, and deploy end-to-end systems to rapidly respond to threats and protect our customers. You will provide technical guidance and leadership to ensure reliable, maintainable, and performant delivery of security products that provide protection for hundreds

The main responsibilities include but not limited to: Identify protection gaps, analyze and develop durable protection strategies across the entire kill-chain Develop tools or automation that enable rapid classification and protection Build end-to-end pipelines for turning threat-related data into protection value for customers Coordinate deployment of pipelines to production with service engineering teams Research and evangelize new technologies Collaborate with other researchers, coordinators and developers to improve the protection capabilities of our products
Required qualifications: 4+ years of professional software engineering experience including testing and deploying iterative releases of software systems Proficiency in C#, C/C++, or scripting languages (Python, PowerShell) Experience with very large-scale data processing and analysis Preferred qualifications: 2+ years of experience applying, implementing or developing security related tools, automation, machine learning or statistical algorithms Passion for best practices in building and supporting production systems Excellent cross group and interpersonal skills, with the ability to articulate
