Principal Category Manager , Retail The Cloud Commercial Communities team in the Cloud and AI (C+AI) group is looking for a high - energy and motivated Category Manager to help build and grow our Industry Retail category (Retail and CG) on our cloud platform and our Marketplace. The goal of the role is to deeply understand the problems that our Retail customers (businesses) are facing and identify/enable partners that are on or need to be on our platforms to solve those problems. Key aspects of this role are around helping partners moving solutions to cloud and publishing to Marketplace. Marketplace is at the center of the next big partner opportunity for Microsoft by enabling customers to find, try and buy enterprise solutions. Working in close coordination with engineering, sales, marketing, and business development stakeholders, the Industry Category Manager is the "CEO of the category" and is responsible for understanding and managing their category and marketplace business. Lead, execute, and represent the Retail partner category across business for internal and external stakeholders Help define and build the growth strategy for retail aligned to engineering, marketing and sales prioritized investments and scenarios Identify and define recruit strategies to prioritized ISVs and SIs to onboard into our cloud and Marketplace Define growth strategies with marketing, sales and partner teams to drive increased sales of top performers in categories through co-marketing and co-sell initiatives Identify technical and business needs from partners and translate into new business
Minimum 8-10 years of relevant experience in industry Program management, partner management, or product marketing are all pluses Strong understanding of core cloud computing business and technical fundamentals – IaaS, PaaS, SaaS Strong experience and domain expertise in areas such as Intelligent supply change, customer engagement and loyalty and workforce enablement Exceptional communication and presentation skills with the ability to simplify and synthesize complex market dynamics and technology needs for different audiences to build coalition across different organizations Strong track record
