Microsoft HoloLens Team is continuing to revolutionize consumer electronic devices. We are currently seeking a detail-oriented, optical devices engineer to work with complex display systems, interfacing with both hardware and software interfaces. The Optical Systems Engineer will need to demonstrate the ability to work concurrently with Optical Engineers, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Embedded SW Engineering, Process Engineering, Manufacturing and Test Engineering.

Simulation tool development with ray tracing and electromagnetic theory System requirements flow down into subsystem requirements with realizable tolerances Verification of the requirements and design feedback to support HW/SW/FW development Clear and consistent communication of complex technical details and collaboration in an organization with multiple stakeholders Data driven design development using simulations and experimental design
Required Experience working with imaging optics, waveguides, diffractive optics and light sources Experience using optical simulation tools, such as Zemax, RSoft or Lumerical Experience on micro/nanomanufacturing methods and tolerance allocation A MS or PhD in Optical Science, Physics, Mechanical Engineering, or related degrees with 5+ years relevant experience Preferred Systems engineering background Strong communication skills to communicate complex technical details Understanding of industrial statistics: DoE, statistical data analysis, tradeoff analyses and optimization with Matlab/Python/JMP/Minitab
