Selection Economics team Applied Science Manager
Amazon is looking for an outstanding Applied Science Manager to join the Selection Economics team. The charter of the team is to build algorithm driven systems that determine selection for speed sensitive programs such as same-day delivery. In this role, you will use data and novel ML models to build models that identify the best selection. You will lead design and development of machine learning and deep learning algorithms to understand customer preferences, basket effects of shopping, cross-category and cross-item relationships and use that understanding to develop selection models/algorithms. You will conduct A/B tests, analyze experimental results, and launch features. You will work with software engineers, product managers and other research scientists, to bring your ideas to production; your work will directly impact millions of customers. We are looking for a science leader who has strong customer obsession, good product instinct, and the ability to parse ambiguity. You are well-versed

* A Masters Degree in Computer Science, Math, Statistics, Engineering, or related field. * 6+ years of Applied Science research experience in related industry. * 3+ years of people management experience * Experience managing teams with both software engineers and applied scientists. * Proficient in at least one of the common programming languages, e.g., Python and Java. * Familiarity with large scale data processing technology such as Hadoop and Spark. * The ability to comfortably and confidently present to all levels within the enterprise and to work with both technical and non-technical individuals
