Work hard, have fun, and make history at Amazon Web Services! The AWS Capacity Forecasting and Planning team engages with all AWS service teams to build the world's largest Cloud infrastructure. You will work across the entire AWS Organization to align on long range demand for data center capacity and the infrastructure response through the acquisition of space and power. Our team forecasts demand and recommends hardware ordering for the largest AWS service teams. As part of infrastructure and planning, we forecast customer demand, build inventory replenishment systems, and drive utilization improvement for all AWS services. The challenge is finding the optimum tradeoff between AWS service availability and fleet utilization, where a 1% improvement to utilization means millions in additional free cash flow. PhD in Economics AND 4+ years’ experience in ML, OR, econometrics or statistics Strong track record of high quality and high impact technical publications Track record of delivering large analytical solutions with big business impact Experience building forecasting models, time series analysis techniques, and simulation You document your approach for reference and reproducibility in the future Self-starter with the ability to work independently 5+ years of experience in mathematical programming libraries (such as R, Python, Weka, Matlab, SAS) Able to write SQL scripts for analysis and reporting
