Are you someone who loves to work on complex problems and loves turning complex functionality into beautiful experiences? Does the idea of creating solutions that will affect millions of users who care deeply about both productivity and ease-of-use resonate with you? Microsoft's Customer Insights and Research (CIR) team represents the beliefs, capabilities, habits, and needs of current and future users of Microsoft's experiences and devices. We're looking for a seasoned researcher to scale customer obsession, enable informed decisions through human science, and activate user insights in our Microsoft 365 Commercial offerings.

Frames emerging behavior insights and user needs through a combination of new research and current insights and develop work tools to enable Design and Engineering to build products that users need and love. Confidently demonstrates the ability to communicate with product team stakeholders, locally and remotely, and accurately identify critical research questions to be investigated through strong relationship management practices. Confidently demonstrates the ability to consider cost, timeline, and philosophy to determine the appropriate research method to apply to an outstanding research question
An MA/MS or PhD in Psychology, HCI/HFE, HCDE, or related field is required, a PhD in the Social Sciences or HCI fields is preferred. The ideal candidate will have at least 5+ years of research and design work experience, with strong theoretical and practical knowledge of both qualitative (e.g., ethnography), and quantitative (e.g., data analytics), research methodologies, and statistics. The candidate must have a proven ability to help teams develop and drive progress on key metrics as well as have experience in creating research plans. Must have excellent interpersonal skills.
