The Last Mile Science and Technology organization plays a crucial role in developing solutions to vehicle routing problems critical for Amazon Logistics, Prime Now, and other Amazon businesses. As a scientist on our team, you will partner closely with other Machine Learning and Operations Research scientists as well as scientists from other disciplines (e.g. economics and statistics) in a collegial environment with a clear path to business impact. You will own the development and delivery of ML models for one or more problems in last mile logistics. Successful candidates will have a deep knowledge of competing statistical and machine learning methods and the engineering expertise to map models into production-worthy code, the communication skills necessary to explain complex technical approaches to a variety of stakeholders, and the discipline to build maintainable, long-lasting solutions. Key responsibilities include: · Designing and implementating of models and algorithms in support of
· PhD in Computer Science, Mathematics, Statistics, or other quantitative field with exposure to statistical modeling and machine learning · 3+ years of applying machine learning for solving real-world problems in industry (fresh graduates may be considered based on strong publication and implementation record) · Proficiency in C/C++, Java, or Python · Proficiency with at least one machine learning or statistical modeling library (R, Matlab, Scikit-learn) · Outstanding written and verbal communication skills · Publications in top ML conferences or journals · Experience building scalable ML solutions
